DEV BLOG 006 - Positioning

I decided to do this frame by frame instead of tweening. Weirdly, I had to duplicate every single frame to make it slower and look less like a "fast forward" scene. I still haven't figured out how to move an entire group of frames, so once the first step sequence was done, I just copy-pasted the frames again and repositioned them to match the new starting point.

The sprites were made over the background in Paint Shop Pro (see 2nd image) to see how big it will need to be and then exported 1by1 as transparent PNG to then import them in Adobe Animate.

There is still a lot to learn, my biggest issue is blending the parts, like Richard has a very solid outline, so I made the outline of his feet grey at the bottom to match the ground and blend with it more.

For the closeup I was glad that I always use vectors, I can just upscale things without any quality loss. I adjusted a few details on the car tho to make it a bit softer.

I am really happy with this result. :3

Next will be a dialogue between Richard and the Shopkeeper. I am still looking for a fitting font for the subtitle and see where exactly to put them (either like a movie subtitle, but ppl would need to mode their eyes too much, or like in a comic, next to their heads...)
