Werewolf Boyfriend: Bishop (special preview)

Bishop glances up then back at you. “Maybe we can sneak away later, go get a drink, talk about something or another.”

Your heart skips a beat and then stops dead when Bishop winks. He walks ahead towards the kitchen while you catch your breath.

“Holy fucking shit he’s gonna make me have an anurysem.” You take a deep breath, calm yourself ad quickly catch up in the kitchen.

Mimi’s family owned a Japanese restaurant in Hearthway Hollow, Mimi worked there where her sushi had won her awards. She said she went to competitions to win prize money to buy her favorite Lolita dresses. It was a treat to be invited to her table to eat, but to get fresh sushi made by her was a blessing.

“So about this fateful school trip,” Bishop chuckles. “What was it about this little town that made you want to move here?”

“I was a kid!” You chuckle. “I was all amazed by everything. I’d grown up in one of the worst districts around. It was nice seeing a street not covered by pee.” You eat a big bite to keep from talking. “Also,” you say between chews. “It was the wolves that got me.”

“Always the wolves,” Mimi sighs. “That’s what got me too.”

Ruthee chuckles while giving Mimi a sly smirk.

“So, you like big animals, is that it?” Bishop asks.

“The wolf we saw was just so pretty,” you murmur. “It was so big too! I just couldn’t believe something like that was out in the world.” You look down at your plate with a soft smile. “I dunno, something about such massive creatures in the woods made me feel safer about where I was.”

Bishop’s smile faded and his eyes became filled with a quiet understanding. “So I take it you must be a big fan of werewolves.”

Ruthee glares at him from across the table.

“Oh uh-” your cheeks burn slightly. “I mean, sure, who doesn’t like werewolves?” You then laugh nervously. “What does that have to do with anything?”

“Just curious,” Bishop smirks.

After dinner you and Bishop do go out. Since you were so close to the Silver Bullet, you end up there, finding a booth in the back. You don’t drink much, but you indulge in a rum and coke while Bishop orders a whiskey.

“Whiskey seems like such a grown up drink,” you murmur. “Like you can only drink it if you’re a real grown up.”

“What the hell is a real grown up?” Bishop asks with a laugh.

You shake your head. “You know, the older I get the more unsure I am about that.”

Bishop leans across the table and offers his glass to you. “Take a sip then.”

Your fingers brush against his as you take his drink. You smile at him, feeling a flutter ing your chest that disappears as soon as you taste the whiskey. “Oh this is awful,” you grimace and shiver. “Why are you doing this to yourself?”

Bishop is trying his hardest to hold back his laughter. “What? Don’t like it?”

“God no!” You scoff. “That’s the worse thing I ever put in my body.” You reach for the cherry in your drink, hoping to get rid of that awful flavor.

“Wait until you try me,” Bishop says with a wink.
