Strong Choices (PDAP, Chapter Four, Pages 29-32)

Last week, Alexandra found herself powerless before the pirate horde. Vignelli fired at the pirates with muskets. The Flagbearer shielded the wounded Captain Lear and was, himself, wounded by a "lucky" musket shot. Vignelli also hurled flaming hay-bales down before the gate, making a very dangerous situation for Alexandra and her father. Alexandra's found her mom, finally, though they are separated by a great gate. And the pirates brought forth a great chest full of coins, which may have modified Vignelli's antagonistic attitude.

Hmm. That's a lot for four pages.

And I'm happy to say the pace continues this week, as we meet someone new, and both Nikos and Alexandra's dad make some… uhh… strong choices.

Enjoy! :D

One of the great challenges of this project (seeing as it's been going on so long) is remembering which little themes to keep playing. Like, on the last page there, at the top, dad is smoothing his moustache, which is supposed to indicate that he's thinking, a note that Alexandra mentions in Chapter One. I remember pencilling that panel one way, then remembering about the moustache-smoothing, and having to erase the pencils and re-draw them.

I didn't find the original pencil drawings for that panel, but I did find this one (above) from this week's installment.

I like looking at the pencils. I'm glad I've been documenting them.

Happy … June? I guess? It annoys me, the pace at which time passes.

Thank you, readers, for the kind, kind words you have been sharing about this project. Back soon with more intense pages!

Until then,
I remain,
not often warmly welcomed,

TC

“It annoys me, the pace at which time passes.” Exactly! Me too.

Hey, that works too! :)

Oh, smoothing his mustache. I initially read that as a hand-to-mouth-oh-no gesture.
