Jerry, our pet slime mold, has been a big hit on tiktok and in youtube shorts, and we've finally decided to give Jerry the full treatment and make a proper video. Taking Xrays with grandma's antiques

We've got a fun one for ya today! Not a single thing in this project went the way we initially planned, but it turned into quite a fun video. Took some amazing photos, did some incredibly cool demos, and showed off one of my favorite tools in the whole lab. And we got to xray our mummy!

A camera that can see wifi

It's been a few years since our last radio project. We decided that we wanted to pick up where we left off on our passive radar journey, so first things first we needed a new radio telescope. Cogsworth, the one I built many years ago, was... a piece of shit. So we started from scratch and built XJ-9. It took a little finagling but we're back to where we left off, and now can work on the actually hard parts, like seeing through walls or 3d mapping an area.

I know it's been a hot minute since there's been a full video but we're back to making videos full time. We're hoping to get a video out per month, but we'll see how that goes since we want to make sure we're also putting out the best videos we've ever made.

Coat Anything with METAL

My new lab is finally finished!

Myself and my new crew have been working hard on building my new studio/lab since February and it's finally done enough I can share it with you! Hi All,

Wanted to give some updates on how things are going and some other items.

The new lab is almost 100% done being built. We're now well into the "test all the new stuff" phase and making sure all the tools are working as they are supposed to be. There's a few things left to build, mainly better material storage, but all the tools have been purchased and have arrived. Already the new lab is a fricken dream. We've spent so much time making sure it's all super well organized ...

Catching an exploding cosmic ray

Every second of every day thousand of cosmic rays pass through you, but we normally never notice. These particles are the result of high energy collisions in the upper atmosphere called air showers that are the result of some of the most extreme events in the universe flinging particles through deep space. Today we detect and measure these amazing particles and see how they can be used to directly test special relativity, catch smugglers and even find hidden passages in Egyptian tombs.

How I defeated my arch nemesis: BL21 E. coli

Bl21 ecoli are a biolgists nightmare. They are the best strain for producing proteins in ecoli, but are maddeningly difficult to get DNA in to. Exciting news everyone! The keys to the new lab space are officially in hand! Picked them up this afternoon. As of wednesday construction officially beings. First off will be repainting the place to be a nice filming studio, as well as some minor construction. There's a door in a less than ideal spot that needs to be relocated elsewhere on the room that will be the new biolab. Then it's on to electrial, hanging all the new lighting, and ordering and setting up all the equipment.
