SPLISH SPLASH Y'ALL

Oh man, I was nervous to start colour work, and the big first splash page (ha, "splash page") was the first one I dove into (ha, "dove into"). I'm super happy with how it turned out! I love it when a plan comes together.

In other news,

These are all colour key paintings. The final panels will be tidier. If you're looking at it and thinking, "ah, something doesn't feel quite right," that's because this sort of artwork looks. lot better when you go to the trouble to colour within the lines (or at least, I think it does).

Sometimes, in the process of painting these, the panels turn out… how do I put this… let's say "about as good as you might have expected." Other times, you try out a few things, and you end up in a completely unexpected place, and the results are surprising, exciting, and rewarding.

In other news, hey—I haven't really said this in any of my updates, but I'm really grateful for the support all of you have lent this project. I am acutely aware of the pace at which things are unfolding here. If for any reason you wish to withdraw your patronage, know that you have my full understanding and sympathies. Conversely, if you're able to stick around? Wonderful! I'm enjoying sharing this work and this process with you all, and I hope the updates are fun to follow along with.

I really dig seeing your color workflow, this is looking stellar.

Your colors are looking great already- as always :). Referencing your previous post, I’ve always enjoyed the choices you’ve made when putting a setting/scene all in the same palette or tone, it adds great atmosphere! I don’t have much experience/interest in making my own art, but it’s been very interesting to read along with your process :)
