Alien Boyfriend: Lolki (special preview)

“Silence,” Lolki hisses at me. He raises one of his arms and the tip pointedly hovers over his mouth. The Dreczon speak telepathically, so his words are in my head. I hear afterthoughts and whispers behind his words, things he wanted to say or planned to say. It was a misty trail of disjointed words and phrases that faded from memory a moment later. 

“I don’t plan on it,” I grumble at him. “I’m chained here because of you. So I am going to just say whatever the hell I want, because what’s the point now? What’s the sentence for someone who tries to kidnapped the prince? I assume some torture, maybe death.” I shrug then laugh. “I’ve got nothing left to lose.”

“Just be quiet!” Lolki snaps. “Please!” Afterthoughts of curse words and arguments came after his words.

“Please?” I laugh. “So you do have manners.”

Lolki sets the gun down at the edge of the table. “Tradition says I question you, since the crime was perpetrated against me-”

I snort and laugh, cutting him off.

“But since we both know what happened-” he trails off.

“I’m the one who should asking the question then,” I perk up. “Since you lied and got me falsely imprisoned.”

“You were getting ready to point your gun at me!” Lolki snaps. 

“Shut up!” I snap at him. “Why were you jumping over the wall? What were you running away from? Scared to become king?”

Lolki is silent and his wide eyes cast down.

“Pathetic,” I hiss. “So now what? You going to tell the truth or are you going to keep on lying to cover your ass?” I then laugh. “Do you even have an ass?”

Lolki glares up at me. “I get to choose your punishment.”

I smirk at him. “Oh boy, won’t this be fun?”

“If you agree to keep your mouth shut, I will get you the lightest sentence possible.” He lays his arm on the table. “Become my guard.”

“Your guard?” I balk. “No way am I going into servitude for you. I don’t work with weak willed and spineless people like you. What’s to guard anyways? You’re not worth it.”

“Please,” he whispers. “If you do this there is a chance you can go free. Once you go free I’ll give you a reward for keeping silent.”

I roll my eyes. “How and when do I go free? What’s the catch.”

“You tried to take my life, now all you have to do is save it. Once that happens, you’ll be released from your bonds and able to return to whatever life you had before. I’ll also give you whatever you want in payment.” Lolki’s thoughts are jumbled but they’re all basically the same thing.

“What happens if I don’t agree?” I huff.
