Hellhound Unsheathing WIP

Here's one of the early WIPs of the current animation. I also finally set up Vimeo so I could actually preview videos properly on Patreon rather than only being able to share the downloadable MP4 file, albeit I'll still include that in the attachments of this post.

Just doing the unsheathing itself has been fairly difficult to do, so I wanted to briefly talk about what was needed in order to animate that properly.

Usually when animating a character they have a skeleton that just lets you rotate and drag different limbs around like you would a puppet, but the sheath had no bones to work with. So when you can't use bones you move to Shape-Keys.

The basic idea behind Shape-Keys is that they are saved edits of a model that you can turn on and off. Such as having a sphere transition into a cube. With that in mind I made up to 9-12 different edits to represent different stages that would transition from one into another smoothly where I had to effectively remodel the dick each and every time. The whole process took about 8-9 hours to complete.

Definitely the most difficult thing I've ever done and it was all for 10s. I'm incredibly happy with it truth be told. I couldn't quite wait until the whole animation was done to talk about this and I hope the short explanation made sense and/or was interesting to see.
