Merman Boyfriend: Kekoa

I’ve always been a bit bigger than other kids. That’s just how my family is built. My dad is the biggest guy you’ll ever meet, and my mom is taller than most guys in the area. I was always picked on because of how I looked, I was made fun of for my weight, for the fact I looked older than everyone in my grade. For the longest time, I was ostracized, relegated to eating lunch alone and sitting in the farthest corner of the playground.

Then I met Mickey. He had wild, massively tangled hair and was chubby. He started to come and sit with me at lunch, and we played together on the playground. Mickey became my closest friend, my first friend.

Mickey’s dad was a lifeguard, so every weekend I spent with Mickey, we were on the beach. Mickey’s dad taught me to surf and, it was because of that, I started to gain confidence in myself. I loved it, I loved everything about the ocean. I started training with Mickey and his dad to become a lifeguard. I also had grand machinations to become a Marine Biologist once I went to college.

But sometimes, life happens and changes your plans. My dad got really sick, so I stayed home to help my mom and my younger siblings. Mickey helped me out a lot too. It was also during this time that Mickey helped me with the most challenging thing I think I’ve ever had to come to grips with.

“Mickey, I’m gay,” I told him bluntly. We were sitting on the beach that evening. My dad had just had a successful surgery and I wanted to blow off steam. Mickey took me to the beach and we had a few drinks while we enjoyed the ocean. A few beers in and I couldn’t hold it back anymore.

Mickey gave me a blank stare for a few seconds before he moved in closer and put his arm around me. I broke down crying and Mickey just held me. It felt like such a massive weight off my shoulders. Especially since Mickey was there for me.

“How long have you been holding on to it?” Mickey asked me.

I sighed and shook my head. “I don’t know. It never really clicked for me until recently.” I wiped my eyes and smiled at him. “Thanks, man.”

“You know I love you,” Mickey chuckled. “I just want you happy. I’ll do whatever you need of me.”

Mickey meant so much to me, I knew my feelings couldn’t go any further for him. He meant too much to me, so I knew I had to keep those things buried. I think Mickey suspected, but he was always there when I needed him most.

After Mickey’s dad died, he spent a lot of time with my family and me. My dad was on the mend, and I think Mickey needed that sort of fatherly figure around. He stopped working as a lifeguard, stopped surfing. It was Mickey who helped me discover my love for the ocean and surfing, I wanted to help him get back out there.

Then, something strange started happening. Mickey seemed a little odd as of late, but he was getting into the water again and he had even returned to his job as a lifeguard. He seemed happy, weirdly happy. He snuck off a lot too, going out for a swim and then disappearing from sight, only to return later looking flushed, dazed, and dreamy.

“I want you to meet someone,” Mickey says.

“Someone?” I arch a brow at him.

“I’ve not wanted to hide her for so long.” Mickey rubs the back of his neck and laughs. “But she’s kind of jealous of you.”

I scoff and slap my hand to my chest. “Of me? She’s jealous of me?”

“She knows we’re close,” Mickey chuckles. “She also says you’re a powerful threat from the looks of you.”

I roll my eyes. “Ok then, who is this chick?” I ask. “I haven’t seen any girls mooning over you a lot. You did sneak off a lot. What’s wrong? Is she weird or something?”

“Extremely.” Mickey is grinning brightly. “Come on, she’s waiting.” Mickey leads me down the beach and we wade into the water, where we go behind some of the craggy rocks along the shore. There, I see a creature lounging in the water that I’ve never seen before. Their body looks like that of a tiger shark, but the upper half is vaguely human, but still strange.

“Luka, this is Sakari.” Mickey says as the creature slips into the water and swims to him.

Sakari looks up at me with harsh, sharp eyes and sticks her long, black tongue out at me. “I won! I got the prize.” She grabs Mickey around the waist and shakes him.

    “Sakari,” Mickey scolds.

“This is-” I stare in disbelief and point at her. “She’s a-”

Sakari swims up to me and rises so she gets in my face. “I have a consolation prize for you. A friend of mine has been admiring you and he’s ready to meet you.”

I stare at Mickey. “Are you two setting me up?”

Mickey sighs. “I told you she was jealous. She’s been wanting to fight you, so I offered this as a less violent option.” He shakes his head. “Sorry, man.”

I glance back at Sakari and her hard stare. “I’ll fight her if she wants.”

Sakari breaks into a massive grin and I see all her sharp, horrible teeth. Well, Mickey always did have an odd taste. He used to be in love with the Gargoyle chick from the cartoons. He also had a thing for Ursula the Sea Witch, he still has a toy of her I got him ages ago.

“I like to bite.” Sakari licks her tongue along her teeth. “Just ask Mickey.”

Mickey grimaces and mouths ‘sorry’ to me again.

I smirk at her. “I don’t mind that. But for Mickey’s sake, let’s go with his plan first. If your friend and I don’t work out, then we can fight.”

Sakari jabs out her hand and I take it. Her grip is secure and she pops my bones as we shake. “It’s a deal!” She dives into the water and swims away.

I go stand back by Mickey again. “I have a lot of questions.”

“I know,” he sighs. “She’s got a sweet side, I swear.”

I don’t quite believe him, but nod along. “How the hell did you two even meet?” I ask.

Mickey and I sit down while we wait on Sakari to return. “My mom saved her a long time ago.” Mickey finds a flat rock and skips it across the water. “So Sakari felt like she owed my mom a life debt. She had kept an eye on her and the family, and when she saw I wasn’t swimming anymore, she took that as a chance to repay the debt.”

I feel a bit jealous. I had been working so hard to help Mickey overcome his fear. It figures some girl would help him. Then again, if a mermaid came and tried to help me, I’d probably fall for it too.

A moment later, Sakari rises from the water and swims towards Mickey. She climbs onto the rock and pushes herself up, kissing Mickey hungrily until he falls on his back on the shore. Sakari cuts her eyes to me, as if saying this is her territory and she’s marking it.

“You need to stop that,” Mickey pants when she lets him go.

Sakari licks her chops. “I don’t think he minds.”

I scoff as I look at her. “I’ve seen worse from straight people.” I glance back at the water and see something watching us from behind the rocks.

It tilts in the water and spikes suddenly flare up all around its head before it dunks down. I stare for a moment as the surface of the water slithers and ripples. The head pops back up again, but the spikes lay flat in the water like hair. His dark, wide eyes gaze up at me, all black and void-like, taking in nothing and everything at the same time.

“Come on up, Kekoa.” Sakari scoffs as she curls up in Mickey’s lap.

The spikes flare up again, creating a mane of wild spikes striped like a creamsicle melting. He slowly eases up out of the water, bracing his hands on a rock as he lifts. He has the same sort of flat face that Sakari does, but his mouth is more full and the ends don’t cut back as far. His body is all melting creamsicle stripped. Around his hips and waist are the same splayed and frilled spikes as on his head with long, flowing fins. His body is lean and slim, and he looks very elegant and model-like.

“Luka, this is a friend of Sakari’s. This is Kekoa.” Mickey introduces us.

Kekoa tilts his head to the side and then to the other. He blinks a few times before moving closer so our faces are inches apart. I gasp, bracing my hands behind myself as Kekoa looks deep into my eyes.

“You’re not the most beautiful creature I have ever seen,” Kekoa’s voice is melodious and crackly at the same time. “But I am nonetheless drawn to you. You’re like an anglerfish.”

“Hey-” I start, but Kekoa places his gummy-like fingertip to my lips.

“Ssshhh. It’s ok,” he coos. He then smiles brightly. “I know how strenuous and hard it is to be seen as nothing more than beautiful. I can handle that.” He then paws his hand down my chest and to my belly. “I can also handle all of this.”

I gently push Kekoa back. “Now look here-” I start.

Kekoa grins at me and licks his lips. His tongue is black like Sakari’s, but it is forked at the end. “My last mate said I wasn’t enough for them.”

I feel a bit bad, no one should have to hear those words.

“I’m eager to please,” Kekoka wraps his arms around my neck and presses his body against mine.

“Uh, well, listen, Kekoa, uhm-” I swallow back the lump in my throat. “I’m just...well, maybe we should, uhm-”

“I want someone like you.” Kekoa places his finger on my lips again. “Big, strong, and not as pretty as me.” He then smirks. “I have my child to think about, you know.”

“You have a kid?” I gasp.

“Cute too,” Sakari purrs. “Once you meet him, you’ll be done for.” She slips into the water, dragging Mickey with her. “Let’s leave them alone now. We’ll go have fun of our own.”

I watch as Mickey and Sakari swim away together, leaving me and Kekoa alone on the rocky little hideaway. Kekoa joins me, sitting beside me and cuddling up close.

“Listen, I’m not used to this sort of thing,” I confess to him. “I don’t know what you’re expecting or what Sakari told you.”

“She told me to look at you. I looked, and at first, I was repulsed,” he scoffs. “I didn’t get what Sakari saw in humans. Your legs are all just-” he makes a face and sticks out his tongue. “They’re disgusting. I don’t see how anyone can find them attractive.” He then huffs and leans into my side. “But I found myself watching you more and more. I like your face.”

“Thanks?” I’m not too sure how to take everything he’s saying, but he seems genuine.

Kekoa sighs. “I fell for it,” he grumbles. “Especially with how you handle the little people.”

    “Kids?” I ask.

“Yeah, the gross small versions.” Kekoa smiles up at me and takes hold of my hand. “It made me think how my Hau only has me now, and how much I don’t want him to be alone.”

“Your son?” I glance down at Kekoa and see his gentle, soft expression. “Hau, is it?”

Kekoa nods. “My mate abandoned Hau and I.” He grimaces and looks down at the water. “Ever since, I have devoted everything to Hau.”

I hold Kekoa’s hand with both of mine and squeeze. “I don’t know what to say, other than I am so sorry.”

Kekoa cuts his eyes up at me and smiles again. “It’s quite alright.” He loops his arms around my neck again and presses his body close to mine. “Once we mate, I know you’ll erase their memory from my body.”

My face burns hot and I look away. “Do all the merfolk move this fast?”

Kekoa giggles. “Only when we know what we want.” He moves in, pressing a kiss to my neck, then my jaw. He kisses up my cheek and I turn my head, meeting his soft kiss on my lips.

“Isn’t that nice to give in.” Kekoa moans. He then slips back into the water.

“Wait,” I gasp, “where are you going?”

“I’ll be back,” Kekoa winks. “No worries. I just wanted to give you a sample of what could be.” He dives under the water, vanishing away.

The next day, as I’m getting ready to head home, something skitters onto the beach in front of me. It’s a shell. As I go to pick it up, something strikes me in the head. Looking up, I see Kekoa peeking around the rocks.

I wade into the water, going to meet him. He drags me behind the rocks and presses my back against them. He kisses me hungrily, sucking my tongue and rubbing his hands down my body.

I put my hands around his waist, meeting his kiss before I come to my senses and push him away. “You need to give me some warning before you do that.”

“Did you miss me?” He smirks. “Because I had wonderful dreams about you.” His fingers hook into my trunks and he tugs them open. I slap his hand away and he grins devilishly. “Only a peek.”

I huff and roll my eyes. “I’m not easy.”

“I can handle a challenge.” Kekoa swims around me on his back, exposing his smooth and supple belly to me.

“Are you trying to seduce me?” I scoff.

“If I was trying to do that, I’d be in your trunks by now.” Kekoa swats my bottom then rises up from the water. “Sakari said humans are strange with their rituals. What must I do for you to take my advances seriously?”

I huff. “Well, for one, as good as a kisser you are, you really shouldn’t greet me that way. Not until we get a bit closer.”

“How should I get closer?” He wraps his arms around me from behind and places his chin on my shoulder. “Like this?”

“Not in the literal sense,” I grunt. “More like-” I frown. “Just us...talking. Getting to know one another.”

“That’s what Sakari said.” Kekoa eases back into the water and swims in front of me. “What do you want to know?” He poses on a rock, looking like a vibrant piece of spiky candy.

I huff and rub the back of my neck. “Well, uhm-” I go to the rocky shore and sit down. “Aside from Hau, do you have any family?”

Kekoa smirks. “You remembered his name.”

    “It’s a cute name,” I chuckle.

Kekoa dips back into the water and swims up to me. He rests his arms and cheek on my thigh. “Sakari is as close to family as I have. When my mate left me, I was abandoned by my family. They saw me as weak and pathetic.”

    “That’s awful,” I murmur.

“Their loss,” Kekoa closes his eyes and nuzzles to my leg. “Sakari and her family took me and Hau in. They liked having me around for my capabilities.”

    “What’s that?” I ask.

“My barbs are filled with venom,” Kekoa bites my thigh and looks up at me when I flinch. He grins. “Not to worry, I only sting when I’m in danger.” He moves up and places himself in my lap. “Am I in danger with you, Luka?”

I shake my head. “I’m as gentle as a lamb.”

“I have no idea what that is, but I’ll trust you.” He leans in, biting my neck, and I try to suppress the moan building inside. “I like you, Luka.” He murmurs then. “You’re big and warm.” He rubs his palm to my belly. He then looks up at me. “Do you like me?”

“Dunno.” I chuckle nervously. “I’m still getting to know you.” I kiss his cheek and Kekoa giggles. “But, I think you’re more than you seem, and I think your mate was wrong to say you weren’t enough.”

Kekoa looks down for a moment, glancing at his hands and then giving me a much more demure look than he has before. “You’re just saying that.”

“Not at all.”  I take hold of his hand. “From what I’ve already learned about you, I can tell you’re strong. Raising a child alone is hard work. It takes a strong and courageous person to do it.”

Kekoa huffs and looks away. “If you keep complimenting me like this, I’m going to kiss you to get you to shut up.” He then cuts a glare at me. “And when I kiss, I kiss to stun, to kill even.”

I beat him to the punch. I place a small, soft kiss on his lips. “You’re cute when you pout,” I chuckle.

“I won’t be teased like this!” Kekoa grabs my face and kisses me hard, he shoves me down on the ground, pinning me to the rocky beach. He then scoffs after the kiss goes on longer than I thought possible.

“For your sake, I’ll stop now.” He moves off me and slips back into the water. He looks up as I brush my hair from my face. “Maybe tonight you’ll dream of me.”

I smile down at him. “You’re not just going to leave now, are you? Not whenever everything is going so well?”

Kekoa sticks his tongue out. “I have a kid to get back to.”

“You’re a good father.” I ease back into the water and Kekoa swims back to me. He kisses me softly and he tugs open my trunks again. This time, I let him steal a peak.

Kekoa’s eyes brighten and he gazes into my eyes. “You’re perfect.”

My face feels like it’s on fire. I bust out laughing. “Oh, come on!”

“I will for sure enjoy my dreams tonight,” Kekoa grins. “Now that I know the reward I’ve got coming to me when we mate.”

“Go on,” I huff. “I shouldn’t have let you done that.”

Kekoa blows me a kiss. “Until tonight, my dream!” He dunks under the water and I have to lay back to cool down for a moment. He’s working his way in bit by bit, kiss by kiss. Now, I find myself falling more and more for Kekoa.

Every day after work, I find Kekoa waiting for me at the rocks. I’ve started enjoying the way he greets me with a kiss, and I’m growing used to how handsy he is. Since we meet at the end of the day, I’ve started bringing food for us to share. He seems a bit repulsed by what I bring to eat, but he’ll try it to see what I like.

I usually grab something quick from the snack shack, so I know it isn’t the best food. It isn’t until one day, when I bring a milkshake, that I see the most fantastic look on Kekoa’s face.

“What is it?” Kekoa sniffs around the straw a few times.

“It’s a drink. It’s sweet and cold,” I tell him. “You should try it and see if you like it.”

Kekoa gives me a look and glances back at the straw. “I told you. I much prefer crab and shrimp.”

“And I told you they don’t serve seafood at the shack until the weekends.” I smile at him and he rolls his eyes.

Kekoa sucks on the straw, but I know he’s struggling. The milkshakes at the Snack Shack are thick. But then his eyes light up. He sucks more and more, then turns to me with a wide-eyed and awed expression.

“This is amazing!” He gasps.

I grin, my heart skipping a beat at his sweet and excited face. “Finally. You like something.”

“Can I have it?” Kekoa holds onto the cup with both hands.

“Yeah, of course.” I say with a nod. “You can have all of it.”

Kekoa gives me a look and inches in closer to me. “I don’t want it for free now,” he replies. He shakes the drink at me. “What do you want in return?”

“Nothing. Really!” I laugh. “Just watching you enjoy it is reward enough for me.”

Kekoa tilts his head back and his spikes shiver. “You can ask for anything.” His tone his suggestive, and I get what he’s aiming at now.

I give him a look, eyeing him up and down as he casually flips his tail in the water. “If there is something you want, just say it. Don’t play your cutesy little games with me. If there is something your angling for, just come right out and ask for it.”

Kekoa drinks more of the milkshake, then sets it aside. “We have been meeting for weeks now,” he grouches. “And outside of hugs and kisses, you do not touch me. You leave me unattended to with only dreams to look forward to.”

“Look, Kekoa-” I sigh.

“I want us to be mates, to love and make love,” Kekoa huffs. “I want you, am I not making that clear?”

“You make it clear every day. And yes, I want that too, it’s just-” I hesitate and look away. “It’s scary to have these feelings, Kekoa. I’m nervous.”

Kekoa cups my cheek and makes me look at him. “What scares you? The fact you’re not as beautiful as I am?”

I laugh and shake my head. “No. I accepted that long ago. We’re from two different worlds, Kekoa. How do we make this work to where we are happy? After all, if we make this real, you have your son. What will he think?”

“If we want happiness, we will find happiness,” Kekoa responds staunchly. “If my son’s feelings matter to you, then would you like to meet him?”

“Yes!” I gasp. “Of course I would! I’ve been afraid I’d be overstepping if I asked.”

Kekoa kisses me and he tastes creamy from the milkshake. He puts his arms around my neck and I grab him around his hips. He moves in closer to me, sitting in my lap and rubbing his body against mine. His hands move under my shirt, touching my bare chest and down my soft belly.

“I take it you want to wait until after you meet Hau?” Kekoa huffs.

“For the best,” I say with a nod.

Kekoa scoffs and rolls his eyes. “Another night where my dreams turn into frustrations.” He palms between my thighs. “Have you been dealing with such frustrations?”

My throat is dry and I swallow. “Of course I have. You kiss like you want me to remain that way.”

“Good.” He kisses me again. “Because until we mate, I will only torment you more with my body.”

“You’re not subtle, are you?” I sigh.

Kekoa grins and wiggles a bit. “You won’t find out the truth until later.” He slips into the water. “You’ll meet Hau,” he replies. “Just you wait.”

The next day, I see Kekoa waiting for me in the usual spot, but he swims away as soon as he’s aware. I go into our hideaway and see him swimming in circles. Something small is blowing bubbles in the water as I approach.

“Ok now,” Kekoa says calmly. “Are you ready? Don’t be shy.” He reaches into the water and pulls out a wriggling little pudge of a thing. Hau is small and his body is mainly translucent frills that have yet to become spikes. He whines and squirms in his father’s arms, turning around to gum at his shoulder.

“He’s in a mood today.” Kekoa rubs Hau’s back. “Come here. Come close.” He waves me over with his free hand. “Here, here.” He offers Hau to me.

“Oh,” I gasp. “I shouldn’t, I’m not-” I look at Hau as he gazes up at me with a better void stare than his father ever gave. “I’m not a merfolk, let alone someone he knows. He won’t like me.”

“Don’t be such a shrimp. It’s just my guppy!” Kekoa puts Hau in my arms. “You hold him like this. See?”

Hau wriggles about in my arms for a moment. His arms are nothing but chubby rolls and there is a puppy quality to his face. He is adorable, I can admit that.

“Hi there,” I place my finger in his squishy palm. “Nice to meet you, Hau.”

He stares at me for a long, horribly silent moment and he breaks into a grin. He reaches up, pulling at my hair and climbing onto my shoulder. He snuggles up against my neck and uses my hair to cover himself.

Kekoa is matching his son’s grin. “See?” He moves up beside me. “I knew he’d like you.”

Hau giggles and wrestles about in my hair. “I’m glad,” I smile at Kekoa. “To be honest, I was apprehensive he wouldn’t like me at all.”

“He’s my son, he has my taste, after all.” Kekoa kisses my cheek. “Go ahead and play together. I want to watch.”

I take Hau swimming, I race him and always let him win. We swim around our little hideaway and play hide and seek. He shows me how he can dive, bringing up small rocks and shells from the bottom of the water. Soon, Hau starts to grow tired and wants to snuggle up to me.

“So, what do you think?” Kekoa asks.

“He’s great.” I poke Hau’s chubby cheek and can’t help but grin. “He’s fun, he’s cute. I really like him.”

“I’m happy to hear that. I wouldn’t stand you anymore if you didn’t have anything but good thoughts about my son.” He kisses the top of Hau’s head and the guppy burbles sleepily. “I was afraid to introduce you two to each other.” Kekoa’s voice is soft and low.

“What? Why?” I ask.

“What if he hated you?” Kekoa has a dark frown on his face. “What if you hated him?” He shakes his head. “I was so scared to find out, I thought keeping a distance would be better. Then after what you said yesterday, I knew it was best for you two to meet.”

“It’s ok,” I kiss Kekoa’s cheek. “I was scared too. I’ve yet to meet a kid I couldn’t make like me. But I was still so afraid that the kid of the person I was falling in love with wouldn’t like me.”

Kekoa’s spines stand on end and his eyes go big and wide. “You what now?”

I chuckle and lower my gaze to Hau for a moment before looking back at him. “I love you, Kekoa.”

Kekoa sniffles and covers his face for a moment. He kisses me, careful not to disturb Hau in my arms. “I love you too,” he whispers.

Hau fusses and grumbles irritably in my arms.

“I think we should head home.” Kekoa pets Hau’s head. “Why don’t you come with us?” He turns to me with a smile.

“What?” I laugh.

Kekoa winks at me. “I have a surprise for you.” He takes my hand. “Keep an eye on Hau and I’ll lead the way.”

Hau lays in my arm as Kekoa leads me by my hand, pulling me through the ocean. We’re in open water for so long, I start to grow worried. Then, I see smoke, and soon, I see a fire glowing on the horizon. There’s a tiny island and, on shore, I see Sakari and Mickey waiting.

“The child, give him to me.” Sakari stretches out her arms as we come to the shore.

Hau is nearly half asleep in my arms.

“Go ahead,” Kekoa smirks at me. “Sakari is going to babysit tonight.”

I hand the guppy to her and Sakari kisses the top of his head. “Once we have our own, you’ll finally have playmates.” She turns and eyes Mickey. “Isn’t that right?”

Mickey sighs as he gets into a boat. “I have a place to sleep set up for you, Luka. Enjoy your evening.”

“Wait, what?” I gasp, but soon, Sakari and Mickey are gone, zooming off through the waters. I sit down on the beach while Kekoa wriggles up to me.

“We’re alone,” he says. “Hau is taken care of for the evening and we can be secluded and to ourselves. Nothing to worry about except what we need and want.” His hand strokes my leg and thigh. “I want so much of you, Luka.”

My throat is tight and painful. I swallow to try and make it go away. “Are you sure, Kekoa?” I cup my palm on his cheek and smooth my thumb across his lips.

“More than anything.” He sucks my thumb and his long tongue coils around it. He looks up at me with those dark eyes and I see stars inside them. “I want us to be mates from this night forward.”

I nod. “Me too.” I dip my head down to kiss him. He moans and pushes me down into the sand. He bites my neck and I shiver. His long tongue licks down my chest and he nuzzles to my big belly.

“Wait,” I pant. “Not on the sand, uhm-” I look around and see the setup Mickey had put together for me. There’s a small tent with everything inside and I see a blanket laid out front. “Hold onto me.” I pick Kekoa up off the beach and he stares in awe up at me.

I lay him down on the blanket and he smirks up at me. “You’re so strong,” he coos. “Seeing such a display really helped me get going.” He strokes his palm down his chest. “See?” His fingers stroke at an opening just below his torso. It looks slick and gooey, and something is easing out from inside.

I move Kekoa’s fingers, touching the strange opening. His moans fill the air and his hand wraps around my wrist. His tail twitches as I ease my fingers inside. The slit is gooey and tight and pulls my fingers in deeper. Kekoa pulls my wrist back and makes my fingers brush against the shaft protruding out. It’s dark orange and slick as it oozes constantly from the tip.

“Here,” Kekoa places my hand around it. “Damn,” he moans. “In your big, strong hand, I look so small.” He braces his arm over his eyes. “But it feels so damn good.”

I stroke him, watching his sexy body writhe and pose. He pants and moans and I grow hard just from the sound of his voice. Soon, Kekoa sits up and pushes my hand away. He kisses me and smirks.

“Stand up for a second,” he coos.

“What for?” I ask.

Kekoa kisses me again and bites my lip. “Just do it, big boy,” he groans. “Stand up for me or I’ll bite you until you do.”

“You can bite me without the threat.” I rise up and stand before him.

Kekoa bites my thigh and tugs down my swim trunks. He moans as my cock slips out and hangs just above his head. “You’re bigger than I thought.” He takes me in his hand, stroking me and kissing my thigh. “Good. The bigger, the better, I always say.”

“How does this work?” I pant as Kekoa pulls me down.

Kekoa licks my lips and reaches down. He uses his fingers to open up the slit his shaft came from more. “If you want that,” he coos. “Or maybe.” He chuckles and reaches around, groping my ass and slipping his fingers between the cheeks.

I grunt and rut my hips, rubbing my cock against his. “What do you want?” I rub his slit, feeling it oozing more. His shaft twitches, spurting a bit as I sink my fingers inside him.

Kekoa grabs my wrist and pulls my hand back. He sighs and sucks my fingers clean. “Please, for our first,” he mewls and reaches down. “I want you inside.” He guides me into place.

I kiss him, feeling myself sink into him. It’s tight and slick and feels like its suctioning around me. I keep a watch on Kekoa’s expression, making sure he is comfortable and not in pain. His lips part and his tongue hangs out as he shuts his eyes tight. He lets out a high pitched gasp and, for a moment, I think I should stop, but he lifts up and kisses me.

I meet his kiss, pushing deeper inside him. His mouth opens as he moans again and I roll my hips. Kekoa clings to me, his sharp fingers dig into my shoulders.

“It’s so hot,” Kekoa whimpers. “It feels so good.” He runs his hands down my back. “Your whole body is so warm.” He presses his face against my chest as he hides a long, loud moan. “You feel so good all over.” He whimpers and catches a breath. “I feel so safe.”

I grind inside him for a moment. “That’s good,” I shiver. “That’s what matters.”

He looks up at me with dewey, sultry eyes. “How do I feel?”

I chuckle, kissing him as I start to thrust my hips again. “You feel amazing,” I pant. “I can’t describe it.”

“Are you sorry you waited?” He tries to sound smug, but he’s too wrapped up in his own pleasure to be convincing.

“Of course.” I kiss him again, feeling the suction inside him grow. He tightens so much around me, I can barely move. His shaft spurts, the clear, slick ooze is now a creamy white that spills over his belly and smears on mine. Kekoa gasps and whines, and his long tongue hangs from his mouth.

I shudder and gasp as I release. I feel like I’m hit in the back of the head, it’s so powerful and sudden. Kekoa’s eyes open wide and his fingers dig even harder into my back. For a moment, I am breathless and not in this world.

I fall on Kekoa’s chest and his soft giggle pulls me back. We get into the ocean together and he kisses me as we float on the water.

“That was amazing, my love,” Kekoa sighs. “Please tell me you’ll do it again.”

I take a deep breath. “Don’t tell me you recover so quickly.”

“Often when merfolk mate, it’s for days at a time,” he whispers into my ear. “I know humans aren’t as strong as us merfolk, but I would love to see your limits.”

I shudder and kiss him to make him quiet. “We have our whole lives for that.”

“I know,” he coos. “But I want as much of you as I can stand now.” He lays his head on my chest as we float. “Is there anything wrong with that?”

I chuckle. “No.” I murmur and kiss the top of his head. “Just give me a few more moments to recover.”

“I’m just happy,” Kekoa murmurs. “My last mate never wanted to be with me afterward. They always just went away.”

“I’m here and I’m not leaving you.” I move to the shore and kiss him as he places himself in my lap. “Every moment from now on, I will be wanting to be by your side. You and Hau are my shining stars now.”

Kekoa sniffles and throws his arms around me. “And you’re mine!”

I’m afraid I lost count of how many times Kekoa demanded my attentions that evening. All I know is I woke from a coma in the late afternoon as he kissed me. I was starving and thirsty, eagerly eating from the cooler Mickey had left me.

After recovering for a moment, Kekoka takes me back home, where we are greeted by Mickey and Sakari waiting on us with Hau.

Hau gasps upon seeing us and swims out to meet us. He snuggles up to his father and then rushes over to me, hiding himself in my hair yet again.

“Well, well, well,” Sakari sings tauntingly. “Did the two of you have any fun last night? Or are you late because of something else?”

Kekoka smiles at me and cuddles up close like Hau. “We had lots of fun,” he chuckles. “I’m afraid I sucked the life out of him.”

Sakari grins. “That’s my boy.”

My face is red hot and I try to avoid looking at anybody.

As days go on, I keep meeting Kekoa and Hau every day. I’ve found a place closer to the ocean. It is the vacation cottage of some old woman. It had fallen into disrepair and she was desperate to get rid of it. There is a massive bathroom with a bathtub the size of a small bathroom itself. I fixed it up first and once I could, I filled it with ocean water.

I brought Kekoa and Hau to the house, setting them in the tub with the ocean water. I fixed up the house and worked during the day while Hau and Kekoka stayed in the ocean. I could bring them to the house in the evenings, much like a family. Kekoa and Hau could sleep in the tub and I kept my bed right next to it, basically turning the massive bathroom into a bedroom.

Hau had been making noises and trying to talk for weeks now. He was making his voice known, but he still hadn’t said any words yet, aside from ones of his own creation. He had become my alarm clock in the morning, blowing bubbles in the water and splashing around until his father and I woke up.

One morning, I hear him singing a word over and over again. “Papa! Papa! Papapapapapapa,” he burbles as he swims at the edge of the tub and peers out at me. “Papa!” He bounces as I lift my head from my pillow.

“Kekoa,” I gasp in awe. “He’s saying his first word!”

Kekoa rises from the water as Hau reaches out to me, singing his first word. He frowns and glares at me. “Yes. And he’s saying it to you!”

I stare in shock. “What?”

“Papa! Papa!” Hau is starting to get angry, and he leaps from the tub and into bed with me, where he crawls up me. “Papa!”

Kekoa sniffles while still pouting. “I don’t know how to feel about this!” He grunts. “I’m mad, but I can’t get mad, but I am! But I’m happy about it!”

I clutch Hau tight. “But why me?”

“Because you’re his father too, you big, giant moron!” Kekoa reaches out, pulling Hau and I closer to the tub so he can hug us.

“Dada,” Hau burbles. The flood gates open, and both Kekoa and I are sobbing messes.

We’re a family now, Hau has sealed it.
