I go home, where Katori is fixing the bed. I feel the deep animal calling in my body. It’s becoming unbearable and I grit my teeth to push it down.

Katori looks up at me. “Everything ok?”

“No,” I say suddenly. Her eyes grow wide and she starts, but I cup my hand around her mouth. “I am going into heat.”

Katori squeals and puts her hands around my wrist. She looks...excited?

“No,” I snarl at her. “Katori, listen to me.”

She pushes my hand away from her mouth. “Now?” She asks. “Is it happening now? Why didn’t you tell me? If we do it right now, that’s ok! My mom isn’t coming over today, so we can just go all day if you need to.”

I grimace. “Princess, no. That’s not what I-”

“I didn’t want to say anything, but I was really kind of hoping this would happen!” Katori giggles. 

“What?” I tilt my head to the side. “You wanted me to go into heat?”

Katori covers her face with her hands. “You’re always so timid when we make love,” she coos. “That first night, yes, it wasn’t good, but since then-” a dopey grin spreads across her face. “Whenever you’re inside me I just feel...Oh!” She squeaks.

I can’t believe what I’m hearing.

“But I think you’re so afraid of our difference in size that you won’t just let go.” She peers up at me. “I thought if you went into heat, you’d let go a little and would-” She looks away again. “I want all of you.”

I take a deep breath and my throat burns. “You’re right. I don’t want to hurt you. If I lost even an ounce of control, I could do something awful and I don’t want that.”

“I’m not as fragile as you think I am!” Katori snaps. “You can pound me into the rock and I’ll be fine!”

“I want to, Katori, but-”

“But what?” Katori snaps. “I know you won’t hurt me. I know you’ll be able to control yourself enough to stop from doing that. But I want you to let this heat course through you and through me!”
