Graphic Novel update for Patrons!
As of today, page 32 of Chapter 2 is complete and page 33 is underway!
Above is a process collage of the last panel of page 32. It is an "establishing" panel where I am orientating readers. I am displaying the surroundings of a scene that is about to play out.
This is why it is so important to learn how to draw perspective. I know AI exists that can generate generic looking locations, and you can download templates that allow you to trace buildings/perspectives. However, nothing beats knowing how to draw specific architecture and objects in the exact angle you want. I love having backgrounds that I can hand draw. It completes the immersion. And I don't have to worry about copyright infringement or having my backgrounds look out-of-place compared to my characters.
Also, don't forget to add details! Example here is the dust in the air and orange lighting. Sunlight turns from white to yellow to orange to red depending on how much dust is in the air and what time of day it is. This old warehouse is dusty af and is also riddled with water stains and bullet holes. The windows are all cracked or broken to varying degrees. These details are all things your readers will appreciate.
That's my two cents for this one.
Until next time!
