I grin. “I like that. Do it again.”
She sighs and lays her cheek on the table. “You were a really hot demon too.”
I’ve suffer a lot of embarrassing injustice today but this takes the breath from me. “Excuse me? What the fuck was that?”
“You were really hot,” she murmurs dreamily. “All big and thick like that.” She smiles to herself. “I used to always fall for Comodonian’s henchmen. Happened so much he stopped having them.” She looks up at me. “Fighting creatures like you during my formative years didn’t help me form any natural sexual attractions. Nowadays if they don’t tower five feet above me and don’t have claws that can rip me apart I’m not interested.”
I just stare at her for the longest time in silence. “Who the fuck are you?”
She sits up and looks at me. “Birdie,” she sighs.
“That’s a stupid name!”
She glares at me. “At least I’m not a stuffed bear.”
I snarl at her but I know it’s not doing me any favors. I flop back in the cage and look down at my stupid, ridiculous paws.
“I’m sorry,” she murmurs. “I’ll do what I can to get you back to normal.” She tilts her head. “What’s your name?” She asks me.
I sigh and shake my head. “What does it matter?”
“My daughter has been calling you Bratwurst.” Birdie’s smirk is enough to make me want to rage again.
“You make her stop!” I roar at her.
