Oasi Bivouac (Concept Art)
Added 2022-03-13 02:58:21 +0000 UTCThis was a fun experiment done in honor of my graphic novel I have written. I wanted to do a very large piece complete with characters and landscape. The goal was to try and capture the feel of one of my scenes. This one happens to take place during a geomagnetic storm on a dusty moon. The earth on this moon is very red, like clay, and the geomagnetic storms cause lots of auroras in the sky. Combined with the red dust, I'd imagine it would be a very dazzling display. These storms also disrupt technology (as one of the crew inspects his radar). The team here has coffee together in the morning before their mission. Their war machines are parked near their campsite.
My novel won't be drawn in this exact style, as it doesn't quite create the overall "feel" that needs to match the grit of the writing. Features are too soft, and there is not enough harsh shadows. I'm also wanting a different line-art style. Nevertheless, I am happy with how this piece turned out. It was a great learning experience. I'll definitely use it as a reference, especially for the sky and earth colors. I think my characters all turned out the way I pictured them in my head (again, just not in this exact style).
I'll start to have more character art dished out in the style I'm going for. Utilizing better Photoshop brushes and drawing techniques (thank you drawing books!). Anyways, I hope you all enjoy this! More to come on this project.
