Should the Lockdown story become a game?
Added 2021-01-08 08:00:02 +0000 UTCHey everyone!
There were a few suggestions to turn the story released last month into a game, so I was curious whether or not you thought that would be a worthwhile endeavor.
I don't plan on spreading my workload out anymore currently, so it would be after the completion of Hypnosis which would still be at least several months out.
Being as how the story is already written and I already created character models and whatnot, it probably wouldn't take all that long. But, knowing me, I would try to make it worthwhile by adding a few different paths and expanding on the story and whatnot.
Everyone is different with their preference for story vs. visual novel, so I was curious as to what you, the majority think.
Update:
Awesome, guys!
Thanks for the thoughtful input.
I agree with all of your points, and that's why I figured putting things up to a vote would be a great way to go forward.
Thaewyn was kind enough to offer to translate the story into a game for practice in using Ren'py while using what's already available, so that would be one option to make the process take a lot less time on my end.
Perhaps at that point, most of the choices would end up being "Which position do you want to do next?" or pushing the story further with plotlines like "How do you convince the girls to hook up with each other?" but then again, this is Patreon sooo... just kidding... winky face.
Problem is, Thaewyn is working on like five projects of his own, he probably wouldn't be able to do that for a while either.
Either way, it's something to consider down the road.
As I mentioned, I want to finish Hypnosis first (and yes, be further along working with Endowed) before starting up a new game.
So, for now, we'll consider this a very strong "possibly!", because although the majority of the votes say, "yeah, do it", I want to make sure it's worth the time and effort, whether that's simply to spend a couple of days to animate the story and leave it at that, or if I end up thinking up more paths that are worth exploring, or furthering the story by telling more after the ending without it feeling like it's being extended for its own sake.
Meanwhile, I'll have another poll for you guys in a few days that will basically be "Do you want more side stories?"
But first, I want to finish up this next update for Hypnosis.
Feel free to continue to comment or vote, I don't mean to discount any further input on the matter.
Thanks, everyone!

I miss the progress bar thing you had for the previous update.

2021-01-09 18:08:04 +0000 UTCAs I said after you released the story on xmas day, I would LOVE to see the story made into a game after you've finished Hypnosis. Getting to see a lot more of Victoria, Angie and Maria would, in my opinion, be fantastic as I really loved the renders that you attached to the story. So once again, a resounding YES from me, and if the current vote total is anything to go by, I'm in the majority. So it would seem I'm not the only person that would enjoy getting more interaction with the 3 lovely ladies (and potentially any others you could throw into the story).

Especially because I'd really love to see elaborations on additional poses, animations and just more content with the girls in general. However, I'll be honest and say that I do love the complete story as you've written it and find it hard to imagine truly alternate paths/endings that wouldn't just end up taking from the already perfect path/ending that we have now. The story feels like it's written around the characters learning to defy societal standards and poly/harem difficulties, choosing any path that (for example) singles out only one of the girls feels like it defeats the point of the story. But I suppose it would be cool to have short little alternate endings to show how things would end up upon making different choices.

2021-01-08 18:43:51 +0000 UTCIf the story gets altered for the sake of multiple endings and the effect of player choices, than things might be worthy of a game. Knowing how a story ends, spoils half of the experience for me and the 'not knowing' is what makes games and stories interesting to read and play for me at least.

2021-01-08 17:47:56 +0000 UTCplease just continue the other games before starting anything new

2021-01-08 16:35:33 +0000 UTCI would love for it to be a new game, just because it seems like it'd be relatively easier to create given that the story is already complete. Would also love to see them get a bit bigger :)
2021-01-08 16:14:07 +0000 UTCI'm sure it would be a good game, but I'm fine without it being made into one. I would like some of those scenes being fleshed out more visually in the Random Render Wednesday. Sure, in a vacuum, having a Lockdown game would be better than not, but for me it's opportunity cost. I'd rather those efforts be focused on new things. I think this poll would be different if the question were "would you rather I make Lockdown into a game or get another update on Endowed or start a new game?" or something along those lines, acknowledging the opportunity cost.

2021-01-08 14:42:39 +0000 UTCI would like to add that not only do I wish lockdown to remain just a story, I would even like to see more stories. I like your work a lot, but the writing is what drives me.

2021-01-08 12:48:48 +0000 UTCAs much as I enjoyed the story (and I did, BE by weight gain, especially deliberately, is right up my alley) I voted to not turn it into a game My reasons? It's more of a complete story already, as compared to Hypnosis, for example. Being incomplete gave you a much broader scope to take the game, and I think you'd end up with a much more linear product from Lockdown. Story choices would be limited to things such as pursuing one sister over another, encouraging one or both to eat more, and pregnancy options. I'm not sure there'd be a very engaging or lengthy game there. I'm only one voice though, so whatever the group votes on is cool. I'm sure I'd enjoy it as a game regardless of what I've said here. I just think that, having mentioned you have other ideas and stories you have considered for games already, that you could still consider those as options. Hope that makes sense
