Proof of Life #292: Finally putting that basement to use~

Hello you nice folks out there, how are you doing in this fine morning/afternoon/evening? I’ve been having kind of a weird week. Not particularly busy, bad, or good, but I had to think about a lot of things at once so it made it harder to focus on the game. It’s kind of important (but certainly nothing to worry about), so I’ll talk about it more at the end of this PoL.

So, even though my mind was preoccupied with something else, I did quite a bit of work. I finished Lily’s first scene, tested everything, and I’m very close to getting to the second scene of the update. The first one was relatively standard, but the one might prove a bit more challenging to write.

You can see a sneak peek of its settings above. This isn’t a scene from the game, I simply gathered all the related characters in the magic shop’s new basement and screenshotted it so I could give you a few clues and hopefully a few things to look forward to in the upcoming Lily update.

I also ordered a new standing portrait for Lily, the last one before the endings. However, I’m not sure it’ll be ready for this update. The artist said between one to two months. We’ll see.

That’s about it for the update. Now, onto something slightly more personal.

Some may have heard that I spent a year in Japan from 2023 to 2024 and that I had been planning on going back. However, due to some recent events, I was certain my visa would get refused, and I’d made peace with that fact. Then, early last week, my visa suddenly got accepted, and it turns out I’ll be leaving for at least 2-3 years before the end of 2025. It came as quite the shock, and it took some time to get my mind in order, so I couldn’t focus on work as well as usual, instead thinking about all the things I’d need to do and all the people I’d have to see before leaving. I’m happy I’ve been granted this opportunity though.

Anyway, I’m probably going to be busy for the next few months as I’m preparing to leave. And then preparing everything on arrival. I’ll try my best not to let it affect my work though, although I’m pretty sure it’ll happen anyway.
