Proof of Life #160: A few setbacks (for good reasons)
Added 2023-01-02 22:59:19 +0000 UTCHello everyone, and a happy new year! May 2023 be a year full of happy fapping, among other stuff : ) I know it might not look like a good omen to have the word "setback" in the first PoL of the year, but hear me out.
So, I had planned to finish Lily's 2nd side-quest by last week, but when I got near the end, I felt like something was lacking, without really being able to pinpoint what it was. Then, it hit me (figuratively). Rose has the two maids Meredith and Stenia, while Cyanna has the female guards and Alys, but the two side-characters are basically alone for their side-quests, without any supporting female char to spice things up.
So I decided to take some more time to completely rework the beginning of Lily's quest to add another character that'll appear from time to time: barmaid Merri, the big-breasted nerdy-looking, extremely shy girl who has just started working at the tavern (see screenshot). She also happens to secretly look up to Leto, but the lecherous tavern owner has his eyes set on her. She won't be as important as Lily, of course, but she'll allow for some more variety in H content, and make Tavros slightly more relevant towards the beginning of Lily's storyline. She still needs some improvement for her hair though (better shading), but what do you think about her? I'll also have someone for Haylen, but I'll introduce her later.
I also wanted to ask you guys another question related to this Patreon page. I was thinking about using the new feature Patreon recently added, which makes recurring payments always happen on the day the person pledged, and not at the beginning of the month. Say you were to pledge today, you would then be charged on the 2nd of next month, not the 1st. Pledge on the 25th? Get charged on the 25th of the following month, not a week later on the 1st.
This won't concern people who have already pledged (so 100% of people reading this), as their payment will go through on the 1st of each month as usual, but say you hadn't been a Patron already, would you have preferred to have the system mentioned above (pay every month on the day you pledged) or a recurring payment at the beginning of the month for everyone?
Personally, I feel like being charged every month on the day you pledged would be better to let people pledge whenever they want and not be charged twice right away if they did it at the end of the month, but if I were to activate this system, I could never reverse it, so I'd rather ask everyone's opinion first.

But the issue you're having seems like it'd affect less people overall than being charged twice when pledging towads the end of the month. Besides, if you're already pledged, nothing will change, you'll still be charged at the beginning of the month. In case you unsub and sub again, you could either, as you say, do it at the beginning of the month, or (if you're feeling adventurous), you could go for a yearly membership ; )

As for the charging schedule, while I like the idea of renewal being the day you started (so starting at the end of the month doesn’t result in a double charge), I have my credit card set to alert me anytime there’s an out-of-country charge (which Patreon is for me) as protection against fraud. Getting that once a month on the first or second is fine, as I know that’s Patreon - getting it potentially once a month for each group I’m supporting would be annoying (and likely result in any actual fraudulent charge being lost in the noise). Of course, if it got too annoying, I could always just unsubscribe and then resubscribe on the first…

The only reason I could think of why people would prefer to have it on the 1st every month, is because it's easier to remember should they want to unpledge before being charged again.

Sure, the 1st is nice, but I think there are many people who would not be aware of this and I know another website that uses this system and it sucks, ngl. Because you always feel like you're losing money if you don't subsribe on the 1st. The character introduction sounds good

All I did was take a few more days to rework the beginning of Lily's 2nd quest that I'd already made, but since nobody has played it yet, nobody will notice it^^ I'm not planning on reworking anything that is already in the game and that people have already played, and both Lily and Haylen's 2nd quest will definitely be in the next update + anything I can squeeze in with the remaining time.

Besides i really like that Haylen and Lily will also get some female companion, as you said it gives way more possibilites, both h-wise and for the narration. As for the payments, i prefer payment on the day you starting supporting. I started supporting you at the end of a month and first hesitated whether to pledge or wait until the 1th of the next month. Pls keep up your great work!
