HC3: The Peacekeepers (demo version, Public) is now available!

There it is, the final and complete demo version of HC3: the Peacekeepers, 8+ months in the works.

Pretty damn proud of how far I’ve come as a dev, and how far we’ve come together as a community. For those who’ve been following me for the past few months, you’ve witnessed the amount of work I’ve put in HC3 (and money, I’d estimate at least a good 10k$ has been invested in that game), and I hope it shows.

The game has now tens of fully customized and hand-made maps designed in an image editing software, hundreds and more original pixel art assets + hand-drawn illustrations, several minutes of background sounds (moans, BJ, etc…) for all 2 main characters and 2 side characters, each having a distinct voice actress (not obvious yet in the demo, since most scenes are with non-important characters that re-use HC2’s all sounds), and lots of other new things that I will let you discover by yourself.

The gameplay is pretty straight-forward, but in case you’re stuck, you can find a full walkthrough in the game files, as well as a save to the beginning of the new update.

It is recommended to either use that save or start a new game, otherwise the background for the main menu won’t show up with your old saves and will remain black instead (not a problem when playing though). Starting a new game might be the wiser choice if you wish to see the 3 new freeroam events I added to the childhood part, the time skip new scene, the new early tutorial or the slight visual improvements I’ve made (especially for the first map on the boat).

Now, let’s talk about the future.

While I aim for a monthly update schedule, I will set the release of Update 1 to around the 15th of November. The reason why I’m taking more than one month is partly because I’ll take a few days rest, but mainly because this first release will probably come with a few bug reports that I will need to address, and also because I need to prepare for the public release on other sites (public release that will come with a whole bunch of new bugs to fix and comments to address). The game should have no game-breaking bugs at this point though, I tested it in its entirety.

--If you are subscribed to this tier, that must mean you at least kind of like the game. If you want to see it thrive and get even better with time, please respect the early access and don't share this version around before I release it to the public. Thanks!--

PS: the VA for the intro text has a few imperfections. I'll have them fixed and patch them in at a later date.

Fix1: fixed an issue where some of the BGMs would be missing from the game files, thus creating an issue whenever the game tried to load them.

Fix2: apparently, not only the BGMs but also the sound effects for the card game Triple Trident were missing. I added them those as well. Sorry, this won't happen in future updates!

Fix3: tweaked a few events during the childhood part that were constantly running in the background on the main map. Now, they only run once when needed. This should help with performance issues some have been experiencing.

Fix4: fixed yet another sound issue with the card game, this time with a missing Shock1.ogg file when asking for a rematch

Fix5: fixed a bunch non-game breaking bugs and the appearance of some sprites that, for example, were holding their swords on the wrong side when facing sideways.

Thank you for the feedback, and glad you liked it! You have no idea how complicated it was to make it work with the guards moving and all, and I messed up more than once until I got it right. I also spent an ungodly amount of time setting up every NPCs on different timeframes, but if I want the city to really feel alive, that was mandatory^^ The Triple Trident game is actually a plugin I bought from someone that was selling it, and as a customer among others, I can't really request any changes to be made to the code. If I could, I'd ask to have a limited amount of cards of a certain rarity that can be used during duels, just like FFXIV, so that I can avoid people taking all their best cards to steamroll their opponents. But that wasn't possible, so I had to streamline the duels to make sure players were always up against opponents a little stronger than them. But in regards to the AI, it actually has several difficulty levels, from 0 to 4. At 0, the AI is actively trying to lose, so all the opponents are set to 1 for now. I'll up it with new opponents, but I'm not sure how "smart" the AI from 2 to 4 is. We'll see. Thanks for pointing out the bug, I've fixed it for the next version (btw this wasn't the first interaction with the loanshark, there was another one before that, so maybe you've missed it?^^) Don't worry about your English, it's not my mother tongue either. French is my mother tongue, so if you want to write in French, go ahead, just not in public comments^^

It's been a while since I posted here, but with the recent release, I thought I had to. It was a really, and I mean REALLY good demo. Everything fits so well. I've played for something like 4h. And I did not get bored or anything. I just love roaming in the city. It's a lively one ! Speaking with all the NPC. The guards moving is a good idea, the small events about 'em doing their job is nice too. I'm thinking about the guy who thought he was a merchant, but he was just a drunkard. I love how there is some humor here and there. Tracking the small stories is also fun. I did not used the PDF that you gave, and I was able to follow everything, especially the fishermen one. Visually, the sprites are really good. I love the main girls design, and their picture while speaking is nice. I love the city too. A lot of silhouette event, but I'm in love with 'em. I'll love to watch some of the main girls. The orb adding is a good idea. It just let you know that something is going one, whitout telling what. You still have the thrill to look for it, it's such a good feature. Special mention to Triple Triad. I don't know if you can tweak the AI a bit, but it plays the same cards at the same moment, no variation if the player don't make some. It was a fun though. It's one of my favorite mini-game in FFXIV and FFVIII. I guess we could have in the future some horny card design. I don't know if it's a good idea, but I liked it in the Queen of Opala games. It gives the player a reason to actually play the mini-game besides just liking it, there is a reward :D I guess the only minus point would be that you can't see if there is some people in the baths if you don't actually enter it. You have then to get undressed & stuff, it can be a bit tedious. But it's only cherry picking. Also, I had a "bug", the first time you see the fisherwoman and the loanshark talking, they are not hidden behind the roof ? Maybe it was just my imagination. I think that your game is again on the road to be a masterpiece :D English is not my mothertong, and I can be a bit rusty. I can speak french if ncessary.

Thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it. I'll see about the doors. The black screen allows for a few things to run in the background without being seen (not always, but sometimes), so I decided to uniformize all doors to have half a second black screen. I could see about reducing the wait time, but I'd have to track all doors manually and change it, so I won't make it a priority for now.

Really good job with HC3 so far, everything both looks crisp and plays very smooth. Can't wait to see where the story goes from here! - Only critique: Would love if the black screen when opening doors would go a bit faster / or removed completely.

Thank you for your answer! Yep! The maids and sergeants are special, they are related to the main heroines and have the same antagonists. I will look forward to their reunion after corruption. I fully agree with NTR trigge's approach, which makes Rose's princess identity not wasted, not just limited to romantic relationships, which is in line with everyone's imagination of princess stories. I'm curious how Cyanna's ice will be broken! Corruption too fast always loses the flavor of NTR. It is indeed better to take it slowly. The early story sets the stage, and after finally having sex in the middle of the game, the heroine begins to transform, and the move towards corruption is the essence of NTR games I'm sure all the waiting will be worth it after the main scene!

Hey, thanks for the feedback, I'll keep it in mind! : ) To answer your question, the maids and the sergeant will be used as "utility characters", where they will make appearance when I think it fits the story. They might appear a lot, like Vaeri, or less, depending on the situations and scenes I come up with. I wanted to avoid blackmail for the NTR trigger, but I'm not saying it won't be used as an argument from time to time. As for the corruption, I'm planning on going a bit more slowly than HC2, even if it affects the intensity of the scenes at the beginning, which might feel a bit lackluster, but it'll make people look forward to the later stages of corruption.

One more question - I played through the demo but the next time i will be playing the game is after the full release because i dont want to play through the updates. Do you have any rough estimations? I am thinking maybe year and a half of development?

First of all thank you for your hard work! Just finished this version, the new pixel characters are awesome. In a lot of places like music, art, maps, details I can feel progress and maturity and it's amazing Girlfriend Sister Mom Childhood Friend I really like the setting of the story and character identities this time, and the excellent character tags can get players into the situation quickly! I am very happy to see the changes in side heroines compared to HC2. This time their relationship is much closer and they continue to participate in the main plot. Haylen's identity allows her to always care about MC, but Lily also finds her position through the tavern. I feel a little pity for Solana but I really like Lily's performance. She often teases the MC and shows her affection for him. The constant contact with the MC makes the side heroines more personal. It's business as usual but behind the scenes they have some kind of secret of their own! By the way, will the Maid and Sergeant have more appearances, like Vaeri did? The new extra characters keep the scene fresh, but it's also good to pick a few characters to keep the scene coherent. On the main story I like your choice of the identity of the main heroine. Corrupting the heroine is going to be a big part of the antagonists' plan. And you can see Cyanna's fans in many places. The noble status and popularity add more contrast. I thought antagonist would blackmail Rose with his love with MC, please forgive my superficiality HC3 is exciting just for the theme choice, Rose's NTR trigger design is awesome! I've never had that happen to me, but that seems to be an issue with some people because (maybe) of the map being bigger and more detailed than usual. Unfortunately, it isn't something I can fix with RPGMaker. Sorry : (

Okay, it would seem not only the music, but also one sound effect was missing. I added everything that was missing and now it works perfectly. The issue was that RPGMaker didn't recognize the audio during the card game as being "used", so when exporting to a playable build, it ignored everything that wasn't used in the game to make the files lighter, and it also ignored all the audio used during Triple Triad. I'll have to add it in manually from now on for every Update, but that's not big deal. It shouldn't happen anymore from now on once I've uploaded "fix2". Please wait a few minutes, and sorry again!

Damn. Give me a minute, I'll go try something else to fix this issue. Since it worked perfectly during the testing phase, I assume something happened during the deployment. Maybe encrypting the sound files messed up with the plugin, I'll see.

Even after the fix the bugs pop up. Only after engaging in a TT game though. Reloading fixes the issue.

The forced Card Duel is having an OGG file error constantly. I suggest just giving the ability to turn down the Duel completely, as it is directly connected to the MSQ or just fix it completely. I see there happens to be more OGG errors as well, according the other Chats here. I managed to resolve the OGG issue by making Copy of Wind1 SE and Battle1 BGM and rename them to Wind7 SE and Fes-BattleRock(Trident1) BGM. It works, but perhaps not the intended files to be used. Everyone here should do that too, i will post this on the 20 dollarinos cost one too, so they at least know the temp solution.

Loving the update. Unfortunately, I'm getting a "Loading error Failed to load audio/bgm/Fes-BattleRock(Trident1).ogg" for example. There are plenty of others that seem to be popping up as well.

A bit of self derision is always a good thing, and it now makes me chuckle when I think about how unoriginal I was in my earlier days. : )
