Proof of Life #101: I'm sorry!

About HC2's development
Again, I apologize about the delay. I know it has happened quite a lot recently, but as the volume of updates, especially for the endings, has been increasing slowly, it's gotten harder to meet the deadlines. Then again, I was the one who fixed those deadlines, so I shouldn't get to complain.
Still, this update is shaping up to be the biggest one in terms of volume (scenes + story sequences) I have released so far. It builds upon the already existing council grounds story section by adding even more story on top of it, and is followed by a relatively big freeroam section. The freeroam section currently has 4 extra small-ish side-quests, one for every side character + 1 character that made an apparition earlier in the story , and 6 scenes (3 story scenes, 3 repeatable freeroam scenes) as well as one extra scene. I still need to add a few things, namely one side-quest for Aywin, so that everyone gets a bit of content, and nobody is left disappointed. To make sure everything is polished and I have added everything I wanted into the game, I will need a few more days.
Anyway, I'm sorry again, and I hope you will enjoy the upcoming update enough to forgive me : )
About HC3's development
As I thought, the previous artist that did the portraits and the banner for HC2 hasn't replied at all in over a month, so I will have to find a new artist to take care of the banner + portraits.
For that, I've been checking artists on Deviant Art and also on Skeb (a Japanese site where you can commission art). I thought that maybe having a banner made of pixel art as well as pixel art portraits this time might be an interesting idea, since it would go extremely well with the game's artstyle.
I have found a Japanese pixel artist whose work I absolutely love, but due to my legendary luck, he closed all commissions the very next day after I found him. Still, I'll try sending him a message after I'm finished with the new update to see when he'll be taking commissions again. If we can reach an agreement, I'll show you guys some of his art on here. He's been doing pixel art for well over 10 years, so trust me, he's good.^^

I get what you're saying but it got very tiresome in HC2 for them to continue protesting that they still loved and cared about Noah but carried on doing all the messed up things they did. In that way, they're already doing a 180 and treating the MC with contempt, it's just that they're lying to themselves about it. It was actually something that I found kinda frustrating about the NTR ending of HC2, it didn't feel much like a true NTR ending.

I've also had this idea in the back of my mind of introducing a "corruption screen" for the in-game characters, with changing graphics for each woman based on their corruption level. If I ever do this, the graphics would be pixel art, and it would then be more consisent to have pixel art portraits as well.

I'm not saying from a development standpoint, but simply morally speaking, it kind of depresses me. I know, it must sound odd coming from a NTR developer, but the slow sexual corruption of the women around the MC is something I don't mind, but having them do a 180 and feel contempt? For some reason it takes a toll on my moral^^I'll see what I will do in HC3, but I can't promise anything.

2021-11-13 03:11:58 +0000 UTCAs a counterpoint to this, I often feel that the disappearance of existing love in NTR always seems abrupt and often unrealistic. For me, the point of the seduction in NTR B is that the seducer is "so compelling" that despite love the woman cannot pull herself away. In total, just do what feels best for the story, everyone has a different part of NTR that thrills them!

2021-11-12 17:57:55 +0000 UTCIMHO the portraits really do add a great deal of fine detail for the sex scenes. It would be great if you could still retain them, or something very like them. The pixel art still loses some of the facial expression nuance which is so critical to NTR.

2021-11-11 18:42:42 +0000 UTCFor HC3 I do hope you lean a bit harder into the corruption aspect of the NTR, even in the NTR ending of HC2 it was clear that Celis and the mom (who's name escapes me) really still did love Noah deep down. I hope that HC3, you lean hard into the aspect that not only do the taken not love the MC anymore they treat him with thinly veiled contempt at best towards the end.

2021-11-09 12:28:52 +0000 UTCI know, I was a bit skeptical at first too, but the portraits being 144px by 144px, there can be quite a lot of details shown, even in pixel art. Adding to that that the portraits are always shown smaller in-game, I think it might even be hard to figure out the portraits are actually pixel art, and not actual drawings. nothing is set in stone though, it's just an idea : ) Thanks for the comment btw : )

2021-11-08 19:07:26 +0000 UTCI actually liked the portraits BECAUSE they are not like the game and in higher definition, so I'm a bit unsure what to think of the pixel art idea, but I'll try to be optimistic Don't worry about the delay though. Other creators push their updates back for months, not days
