HC2: The Law of the Tribe (Concept Version)

Hello everyone!  

Here it is, the first ever version of HC2! I'm really excited to intoduce it to you all!

A few things to mention though:

1) This is a concept version meant to show the progress I've made so far. As such, a lot of things can be subject to change in the future. Besides, it can't be considered a demo version yet, because the story ends quite abruptly (up to where I've been able to develop the game). Still, you should get something between 3 to 4 hours of playtime.

2) You'll be able to experience almost every feature that'll be available in the end game, and a few new ones that weren't in HC1. Everything has been tested by myself and should be up and running. However, if you encounter a bug, please let me know!

3) There's but one short sex scene so far in the concept version, and it's a peeping tom kind of scene. If you've played HC1 already, it will play a bit the same. World-building and character development will take precedence during this concept version, but also during the demo version, until the story progresses enough so we can get the NTR and the H scenes going.

4) Your feedback is obviously more than welcome! However, I can't promise I'll be able to implement every suggestion you guys give me, as it might not fit with the story I have planned, or it could prove too complicated or time consuming to do, etc... and it would end up counter-productive.

But you can be sure I'll try my damn best to make it work!

5) Facesets aren't implemented yet, but they've been commissioned and are being worked on as we speak. They'll come later (same with the title screen illustrations and some other stuff I've commissioned).

6) I still need to do try a few things needed for the mac version, but I should be able to upload it in the following days.

7) The walkthrough still needs some work to be 100% complete for this version, but it should give you plenty of leads to progress smoothly through the game.

8) The demo version will follow the same pattern as with every update of HC1 when released: early acess for 9$+ pledges, an extra-scene for 20$+ pledges, an extra map with the names and quote of 30$+ patrons. I cannot provide a release date yet, sorry!

9) I did a bugtest before, but please, do save regularly as you never know when a bug might arise. Sorry about that!

10) I've worked quite hard today and in the last days to havee verything up and running, so I'm probably going to use tomorrow to rest a bit and to answer to potential feedback/bug reports. As such, I won't make a Proof of Life post tomorrow (13.07.2012).

I really hope you'll enjoy the game, the characters, and the story as a whole!

Fixed bugs for quest number 2 where talking to prof. pine after ending the quest would cause the quest to start again and cause it to bug out. Also fixed a bug for quest number 10 where picking the flowers in a certain order would make the quest bug out. (13.07.2020) (fix3 ver.)

Thanks for tge feedback! About what you call the "godview", I'm afraid that is needed to create a compelling narrative, at least for me. Having every scene being seen from the eyes of the MC is a bit too limiting. I understand what you mean, but for the sake of the story, I'll probably continue using those.

It's really good . I agree with No name tho on his nitpicking :). An other thing that annoys me a little bit is that I can see stuf that the MC cannot, when you swap to cutscenes that the MC is not a part of. It kinda makes me feel like I'm not playing the MC but looking from above with "godview". This is something Ntrpg did very well. Other than that, the world and characters are very good, good job!

I hit enter by mistake, second comment coming. Last thoughts on your writing style. It's good, but I want to point out that you generally use a lot of commas. In written language that is usually completely fine. But I feel that you jump from writing very formal looking sentences, to emulating spoken dialogue. Very often when we use a comma, one could instead simply end the sentence with a full stop. This generally works well for writing spoken dialogue, and is something you can consider if you'd like. Another thing I want to brind to your attention is that you almost always use contractions. It'll, we'll, it's, etc... Nothing wrong with that, but do consider the fact that using contraction or not in speech can give an additional layer or facet to a character. An example I thought of when playing the game was Zeno. To me he totally seems like a character that wouldn't contract his verbs. In the game he says "We'll be training the rest of the day." what if he instead said "we will be training the rest of the day."? He sounds even more formal and proper now. Just something to consider. The map looks stunning. A great move to learn parallax. It's more fun to explore the world when it looks this great. The puzzles were perfect, and I hope you figure out more clever ways to have more of them in the game. Of course when it makes sense. To me the story is what should be front and center, so I wouldn't want to see you compromise story for gameplay. Ok enough praise. Some nitpicking: The thing I mentioned that I didn't enjoy in the beginning of this one was the music. I generally thought the music in HC1 was better. The inside music in particular kind of annoyed me in the long run. The outside music during the day was ok but not great to me personally. The music during the night was good, liked it. The music during the skip montage was great, loved it. Another nitpick: The chat window. Now that the game looks so great, I felt that the chat window was too bland. It stuck out as something that annoyed me slightly to be honest. I think I read that you were having face sets made, so I guess those are to go along with the chat windows when characters talk? I think that would help a lot then, and would address having to always remember to read the name of the person talking. In general I think you upped so much of the look and feel of the start of the game that I think the chat window needs some kind of work to match the rest. All in all I am super hyped for more from you. Very happy to be able to play it so early and see it develop! Many times I was forgetting I was playing a porn game. Same with HC1. Love that stuff.

My quick thoughts and I'll get the praise out of the way immediately. I am liking what I am playing, a lot! You make it obvious that you have grown and learned a thing or two about storytelling from the first chapter. HC1 was told in a way that engaged me enough in the story that I enjoyed the parts that were not just porn. The beginning of this one tops your last one in every way to me except one, more on that later. Characters are introduced better this time around, and the big thing is how you handled everything from before the time skip, the time skip and then after. I believe you are very naturally gifted at storytelling, and it's very nice to see that you haven't stopped growing in that regards. Very nice touch to give world building through lore friendly stuff like reading a book before bed. Stuff like that goes a long way to sell the world you want to show us.

Great demo, love the characters' setup -- though it is a real shame we can't seen any more Faelyn :( Regardless, it looks great, can't wait to play more!

I played the demo and I'm super excited for what is to come. the one thing I'm hoping to see with this game is scenes where the lady is having sex while the MC is completely unaware who or what is happening. like the Bathhouse scene in HC1 or the Shower scene in Merry H-MAS. I love those kinds of scenes so much!

Yes, it'll stay the same, at least at the beginning. Things might change towards the end of the game, but the rest of the NTR will be close to what we've seen in HC1. For your second question, I'd like to keep a definite "couple" for the main characters, which would mean Celis and Aywin will have the same partner throughout the game, maybe with a little swap here and there at the end, but not much more. If I put some gang-bang scenes in there, it'll most likely be the side characters involved. (This might be subject to change as I develop the game, but, for now, those are the ideas I'm going with^^)

Played through the demo and i love love love the setup. Zeno and his son are the perfect archetype for this cant wait to see where the story goes!

Will the ntr be similar to hc1 i mean the mc being clueless what is going on? I kinda hope so it alwais more interetnic when the mc isint aware of what is going on. And second will the ntr be with only one person i mean one guy doing the same girl all game (in the demo you foreshadow that zeno's son will "bone" celis in the future, will celis be doing with only him or other guys too?) All in all a great game!!

Thanks for the bug reports. Those were small bugs, so I fixed them already, but they can be immersion breaking so thanks for pointing them out! Also, the pictures helped a lot : ) (ps: yes, you can move while looking at the map, so no bug here^^). Thanks a lot for the feedback too! You actually registered as a Patron (thank you for that too) the very next day after I implmented the delivery man Kono, so I was like "what a coincidence!"^^ Regarding you not finding all the characters, it is actually meant that way, I don't always put all of them on the map. Actually, most of the time there only about half of them present. Story-wise, they're outside the village, and development-wise, it would take too much time to put everyone with a different dialogue every day, so I had to take a decision : )

Thanks for the feedback. In terms of ending, well, it's a NTR game, so there's bound to be some sad parts. I'll try to go with different endings just like HC1, but maybe I'll make the good ending a completely happy one (well, as much as possible)? I don't really know yet^^

Well, I want to say it's up to the player, but in my mind it would be something like "Névé", same pronounciation as the é in pokémon. I took insipration from the spanish word "Nieve" which, if my memory isn't completely failing me, means "snow" in english. It's a reference to her hair color : )

First of all, a really good work, I really liked the atmosphere given here, especially small details like animals and pets here and there. The black panes over other rooms is really a great idea, I loved it in your previous chirstmas game. I think the different houses layouts are nice, I like the window where you can see through, it was already in HC1, but hey, just sayin' what I enjoy here :D Nice puzzles too, I was wondering it those where going to be too hard, but they weren't :D I have the same username as the delivery man, funny :D Talyn speech was badass, loved this part, especially with the music you chose. I think that music is something important in a game to install an atmosphere, and in HC1 you nailed it pretty well, in this game too so far :D It's kinda hard to know where the people are, sometimes I don't know if it's because they are simply outside the village or juste because I couldn't find them on the map, I don't ask for a stalking board as in HC1, I think it's the charm of this, maybe an event is occuring somewhere and you have to find it. Overal it was very pleasant, I liked the background for the characters here, but I was a bit sad of the Belanor family fate. I encountered few "bugs", I'll just make a list here : - https://i.imgur.com/55ufPTL.png The block where the MC is looking is blocking, and I think that it shouldn't. - I don't know if it's a bug, but you can still move when the map is shown - It had a missing word in the scene where Solana is kinda mena to Celis, when she's talking about Celis stealing Noah's house - https://i.imgur.com/DnvSMy9.jpg It should be Zeno's talking, or switch with Neve skin

the concept version seems pretty solid but i cant help getting the feeling that this whole thing may just have the same ending as ntrpg2 and leave the player deppresed. the character named zeno and his son just remind me of the two main antagonists of ntrpg2. granted the ntr ending of hc1 was sad but not heartbreaking, i just hope that hc2 dosent have the same ending ntrpg2 had. apart from that the game seems very promising just like hc1 was in its development.

In the prologue if you talk to the Prof after finishing quest 2, he gives you paper again and it seems to break the map.
