2023-02-13 17:51:18 +0000 UTCWas really interesting to hear Austin speak on Tales of the Jedi here. I’m completely *loud fart noises* on the references Clone Wars pulls but I love those comics and their kinda overwrought mythologizing and strange as hell characters and dirty ass aesthetic. So cool.
2022-08-01 18:27:36 +0000 UTCYea, she’s also did Master & Apprentice. Think that Bloodlines is better. But speaking of M&A, I read that but never listened to Dooku. I guess Rael being characterized as a cowboy-voice guy makes sense, but I read him 100% as having like a Cockney accent. Fun character

2022-07-31 21:11:50 +0000 UTCThere's precedent for the former at least. Gonzo as Vader goes back to The Muppet Show in 1979 when he played "Dearth Nadir" on Pigs in Space. Most famously he'd portray the character in 1980 in the "Star Wars cast" episode (guest starring Hamill as himself and Luke Skywalker in-character, Mayhew as Chewbacca, Daniels as C3PO) https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/muppet/images/9/9c/Dearth_Nadir.jpg

2022-07-31 14:56:05 +0000 UTCThat's fair, but I still think it was weird that it was dismissed so quickly and entirely on a purely anti-royalist basis when there's plenty of other stuff going on there within this narrative. I expected there to at least be some discussion on that point? I dunno.

2022-07-30 20:19:50 +0000 UTCThey are dismissive of the idea because it is fantasy in this context. Onderon is not a backwater, any ruler that planet has is going to be “compatible” to an empire and not “chosen” by the people. Onderon is Iran Contra from the US pop culture perspective.

2022-07-30 17:12:49 +0000 UTCHonestly feel like y'all are being a little unfair to the concept of kings within a decolonization narrative like this. Obviously kings are bad and it sucks that the arc doesn't spend more time with normal civilians, but for a colonized people a rightful king represents a traditional power structure that is being usurped, in this case by a force that doesn't even actually have any anti-monarchist sentiment because they literally installed a different, shittier king.

2022-07-29 17:13:45 +0000 UTCRegarding alien prosthetics and make up, shout outs to the chads at the Babylon 5 makeup department and to Andreas Katsulas for 5 seasons of G'Kar, including red contact lenses.
2022-07-29 16:39:01 +0000 UTC"Holonet" is such a good word. I love a fantasy version of the internet, in Kill Six Billion Demons there's a one-off mention of something called "the glyphosphere".

2022-07-29 03:55:25 +0000 UTCThere's also an upsetting line of Muppets x Star Wars figures that features Gonzo as Darth Vader and Sam Eagle as Obi Wan

2022-07-28 23:29:37 +0000 UTCI feel compelled to stand up for Stitch: He's one of the biggest merch sellers at Disney, I imagine because the ad campaign for the movie was pretty impressionable on that generation of 90's/2000's. Plus he's cute af

2022-07-28 18:36:00 +0000 UTCIt’s even more recent! They talk about it after 2hrs on the most recent episode on Onderon!

2022-07-28 05:33:43 +0000 UTCMaybe people already answered on twitter, but incase they haven’t, the episode that is “redo meerkats” were the ones with satine and her brand of pacifism
2022-07-28 04:51:54 +0000 UTCre: who knows that Luke and Leia are vader's kids: there's a really good canon that goes into this. The book is called Bloodlines and it's by Claudia Gray, the best currently working Star Wars writer IMO. The story revolves around Leia's rocky working relationship with a hot young member of the opposing party. The short answer is that it's hushed up, but her opponents in the fledgling New Republic government find out about it and leak the info, causing a huge scandal. This is partially explains why when we meet Leia in The Force Awakens she's on the outs with the New Republic and is running her own Resistance.
