That evening, you feel like sitting by the fire again. Having actually written something, you feel the need to celebrate. As you drink your beer you suddenly feel a presence. You glance up into the woods, not seeing anything but feeling something. In the light of the fire, you see the figure from the waterfall. You feel slightly afraid but you hold out your beer to them.

“Thank you,” your voice cracks. “For returning my shoes.”

A massive hand comes out of the shadows, taking the beer from you. They step out of the woods and sit down across from you. The drink the beer in one sitting then set the bottle aside. They’re quiet and beyond the flames you can see they have tusks curling from their lips and going outward. Their shoulders and extremely broad and covered with fur. Their arms look like massive tree trunks. Each hand has only three fingers but they’re massive. Their ears are long and pointed as well as their nose. They have wild hair that’s curly and ragged and fluffy somehow at the same time. Their barrel chest slopes down into a narrow waist. Their legs are long and thin, curving backwards. Their feet only have three toes, like their hands. Behind them they have a long tail that’s bushy like their hair and fur. You were speechless, you had no ideas such creatures existed.

“If you keep your mouth open you’re going to catch flies,” his voice is like thunder thunder in the distance. It rumbles and roars but at the same time seems peaceful and quiet.

You clamp your mouth shut and reach for another beer. “Sorry.”

He chuckles. “Do you see something worth staring at? The other day, you didn’t even linger.”
