Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean E37 & 38 (THE END)

THIS IS THE END! OH MAAAAN I GENUINELY HAVE LOVED WATCHING THIS WHOLE SHOW!

I WILL BE DOING A FOLLOW UP FINAL JOJO VIDEO TALKING ABOUT THE BEST & WORST THINGS ABOUT JOJO! If you have any questions you want me to answer about the show leave me some comments down below (e.g. fave jojo from the show etc)

Comments

So in the end, parts 1-5 happen exactly the same as original, but Pucci never existed. Simple explanation for it

michael ESSS

In terms of questions: Favorite comedic moment? Favorite Non-Stand user? Favorite set piece of an arc/episode? What stand would you want for yourself? How would you rank JoJo compared to all other animes you've watched? Are there any plans on checking out the Rohan Spin-off or the Fighting Games?

Muntaacas

I really wasn't a fan of Stone Ocean at first. I had the same reactions, especially considering the ending, as you. I found it stupid and really disrespecting of all the previous endings. Sadly, it's really not that good explained what exactly happened in the anime (manga as well afaik, but i never read stone ocean). Luckily all the people here already explained the whole Ireneverse thingy :) But Stone Ocean became my favorite part upon rewatching it (and spending much time on the wiki understanding what exactly happened), primarily because of the ending. It's just so poetic, so beautiful and so damn rewarding seeing Jolyne be freed of the Joestar Curse after seeing all of our protagonists struggle so much through all 6 parts. Jonathan died and all the other JoJos suffered just so Jolyne could change the rewinding of the whole universe (technically it was Emporioh, but i digest) and live a happy and normal life. I cried ugly tears the second time i finished with Stone Ocean and I never got so much enjoyment from rewatching something as I got with Stone Ocean. The downs seemed not important at all while the Ups made me burst in so many emotions which i didn't express the first time. The critique at the end is justified, although it still hurt, but i really hope you rewatch the last few episodes (or SO entirely) after having all the knowledge from your first watch and our comments :)

Muntaacas

In terms of questions for the upcoming video tho: - favorite Stand, in terms of abilities and/or visual design? - favorite Jobro? - favorite fight? - favorite major and minor villain? - best outfit, out of every character?

I like the book-end of Johnathan and Jolyne, the first and the last, both dying in the final struggle but their ideals carrying on in a way. With Johnathan, it was a bloodline and I think Araki felt like he tied himself in a knot of saying that genetics make you a hero, and Emprio carrying the wishes of Jolyne and company is a direct refutation of that, ending in a world free of the eternal Joestar-Dio bloodline feud, but still extremely bittersweet because without those struggles and happier lives, Irene and others are completely different people. ...and the Doylist explanation is that Shonen Jump cut Jojo out and Araki had to switch magazines, so fuck it, why not start a new universe from scratch and keep only the best lessons of the last 20-something years of writing?

Tidu

DIO was never erased. Araki has stated that Parts 1-5 happen as is. https://www.reddit.com/r/StardustCrusaders/comments/zhxq95/in_depth_part_6_ending_explained_imo/

Kerenissa

Also think about looking at JJBA: Eyes of Heaven (as the plot of the game was overseen by Araki, and gives an alternate ending for some series characters). Although since it got a patch recently, they might be thinking of "R"ing it like All Star Battle(R)

Kerenissa

Sort of Jotaro as he's nowhere near away as much chasing down Pucci's Stand Users. And stops his wife calling her Jolyne in the first place OOHHH Also Weather Report. Now he isn't a twin (or possibly there's a "pucci-placeholder" like the Wasp Fauxlyne or Fauxtaro), The mother who lost her baby might not steal him as twin births usually come early so he' be in hospital at a different time if he were solo. (Or steal the Placeholder Pucci instead) This also means DIO's sons are kicking around too...

Kerenissa

It's not a new universe really: the Ireneverse is Universe 1.1, rather than 2.0 Pucciverse. Because Pucci was dead before he could complete his whole rotation of MiH, it snaps back to the one still in the "buffer". So because of a move he made himself as he had unlimited fate, but was blind in one eye, he was the one who hoisted himself on his own petard by shoving the disc in Emporio and then dying, and therefore when the 1.1verse (everyone still alive up to Nov 2011) came back and he was never in it, he couldn't make FF, or be there to make Jotaro away all the time https://www.reddit.com/r/StardustCrusaders/comments/zhxq95/in_depth_part_6_ending_explained_imo/

Kerenissa

No, the Pucciverse didn't get a whole rotation, so it snapped back to the only complete world still in existence. But without him in it. Therefore 1-5 still happened, but Pucci never set the agents on him keeping him busy and away from his family https://www.reddit.com/r/StardustCrusaders/comments/zhxq95/in_depth_part_6_ending_explained_imo/

Kerenissa

It's hard to say exactly what happens at the end of Part 6, but here's how I believe it goes down. By defeating Pucchi before the events of Cape Canaveral occurred in the new universe, the effects of Made in Heaven are undone (As is the rule for stands; when the stand is destroyed, their effects are undone). As a result, the living souls are returned to their original universe. But with Pucchi dead in the new universe, his soul is not returned to the original universe. Therefore the original universe no longer has a Pucchi, and it's implied that effectively, Pucchi never existed in the original universe. So far so good, but how does this wrap things up? Well whose soul was infused into Father Pucchi's body? None other than DIO of course; as Pucchi himself became one with the Green Baby. So what does that imply? Without DIO in the original universe, the actions DIO took on the world no longer occur either. And obviously, this has world altering impacts. The main reason I subscribe to this interpretation is that it is the perfect way to give the Joestars' a "happy ending". Hirohiko Araki said that the root of evil is "horror", and that the ultimate horror is a curse that spans generations. Sound familiar? Even after DIO died, he came back to haunt the Joestars in Stardust Crusaders, and even THEN after his actual death, his actions continued to haunt them through the arrow-borne stand users in Morioh and in Italy, and ultimately with DIO's own apprentice, Father Pucchi. But with DIO erased from history, none of this occurs. DIO never acquires a stand, never spreads it to his children, never curses Holly and never sends Pucchi on his path to darkness. Thusly, he never forces Jonathan, Jotaro or Jolyne to fight when they should've led normal lives. Sure, they never go on the crazy adventures. But this time the Joestars are no longer destined to fight and die against the darkness of DIO's curse. It's the only way they could truly be free of the generational curse; for it to never have happened. Ultimately, the Joestars fought so that they wouldn't have to fight anymore.

Peep Gravy

crazy that youre finished with Jojos ive been watching since part 1 reactions were releasing so this is crazy lol

michael ESSS

Part 6 is one of my favorite parts, but I definitely get being a bit iffy on the ending since it doesn't spell everything out for you. Other people in the comments have and will clear all that up.

Kaiser Roll

PS I wouldn't consider it a retcon necessarily. All the things that happened, still happened. We've just gone SUPER far forward and started again. Emporio is proof of that

Kyle Turman

You may have missed it, but Pucci says that souls can't carry over to the new universe after a death in the previous. Thats why the two new Jolynes weren't actually Jolyne That being said, some alternate Jolynes might be closer to OG Jolyne than others, and for whatever reason after Pucci's death Emporio was blessed with a new universe where they new cast members don't seem TOO far off from the OG team As for who gets to come over to the new universe, Pucci has no control over who comes over. EVERYONE who was still alive came over to the new side

Kyle Turman

Congrats on finishing part 6! How do you feel about how Araki has improved as a writer through each part? Jojo fans can't get enough of Jojo reactions. What do you think makes JoJo's so special as a reaction series?

Reunion

People think that Giorno was going to show up but Araki changed the ending so he could start Part 7 in a *different*, different universe...

Kerenissa

It's a long ass message but I hope this helps make sense a bit, because yeah, it is a confusing ending lmao Also the Rohan Kishibe series is only a spin-off, is not affected by Part 5 or 6, but please watch it, it is fully canon! And regarding my questions, I'd like to know if you would be ever up to watching the openings again like your first Jojo video but now with all the knowledge you have, it's an amazing experience imo

The Soul

You misunderstand Made In Heaven's abilities Pucci doesn't choose who to move to the next universe, every living thing gets transfered over He said "I left all my enemies behind, except Emporio" because he killed them all, except for Emporio I'm pretty sure the implication is that in the new "Ireneverse" everything before Part 6 happened the same way it did before, but Pucci never existed, so our main crew never got imprisoned, because they were never fated to fight Pucci anymore; that's also the reason Jolyne's new name in the new universe is Irene - she's not fated to be a "Jojo" anymore, and not cursed to constantly fight superpowered morons and deal with the aftermath of DIO's crap Also, the next part is in no way related to the old universe, or the new "Ireneverse", it's entirely separate

DojoMoj0

OH MY GOD, THERE WE GOOOOOO! Just watched the whole thing, and I will explain the questions you have! But I wanna thank you first for this journey, I love seeing people experiencing Jojo fully blind So the universe of Jojo ever since Part 1 is based around universal laws, Fate, Luck, Gravity and Karma, Fate doesn't control people, it just has points that need to be reached (This is the main message of the last episode of Part 5 with Rolling Stones) and Luck is mostly seen through Kira from Part 4 for example (or how Fate dislikes those evading it, which is why Diavolo got the Infinite Deaths punishment, which was NOT affected by Part 6, it's a pocket dimension), ever since a normal human like Jonathan defeated Dio, an all powerful vampire, Dio found himself thinking about Gravity and how that attracts people, by attaching himself to Jonathan, he looked for a way to surpass Gravity and Fate, hence the Heaven plan where everyone understands their fate and accepts it without challenges exceeeept for the Made in Heaven user, who overrides it, to the point that anyone who dies BY Made in Heaven, cannot come back with the next universe (so no, no one is affected from previous parts, anything from Part 1 to 5 all happened the same), so the Universe corrects itself by making fake versions of characters like Jotaro and Jolyne, the only thing that never happened was Part 6 (Fun fact, the fandom calls fake Jotaro, Qotaro based on the Enya fight on Part 3, given all events happened, this implies Qotaro defeated Dio somehow lmao What makes this a satisfying ending is back to the concept of Karma, Pucci was above fate thanks to Made in Heaven, but he was a TERRIBLE person and Fate disliked that, when Emporio and Weather Report defeated Pucci, the Universe deleted him forever and rewarded the main characters, no replacements for Pucci and THIS is Jolyne's happy ending, the whole marriage thing is just Anasui's side, what matters from what she says is that they are going to see her dad, Jotaro, who in the previous universe had missing from her entire life due to trying to catch Dio's followers around the world to protect his family and the world (These followers were under Pucci's orders), by Pucci never existing, Dio died and all that was left were the arrows in Morioh and Venice Italy, after Kira died, Jolyne got to spend a happy life with her parents, no fights against evil (Represented by the fact she is called Irene now, she is impossible to be a JoJo as her name no longer fits that, those named JoJo are fated to fight evil, which is why Holy, George, George II and the other three kids of Dio were not protags) (It is also confirmed that Ermes' sister is alive for example, and since Pucci never existed, that woman never changed her kid with Weather Report) That's it regarding Pucci, Fate and the main cast, also Emporio was there not by choice of Pucci, but because he was not killed by Made in Heaven, Pucci does not choose who to bring, is EVERYONE unless Made in Heaven killed them. Regarding the 8 thing from Jolyne, that's a Mobious Strip, it only worked against C-Moon because it got rid of any edges, so gravity didn't affect, her wound from the knife in Time Stop would have been there anyways, the Mobious Strip didn't override damage. Also Dio did not won, in this universe, everyone is happy, Jotaro is the same who killed him, his beliefs of Fate that Pucci carried were defeated by the Joestars and their friends, that's what Emporio's last speech to Pucci means, everything evil Dio did was finally rid of thanks to Jolyne's determination transferring to Emporio. No more Stand Battles, no more Vampires, no more Time altering abilities, no more Ghosts cursed by Killers, it's a wonderful world now

The Soul

I have a lot of thoughts for this 1 hour special! No story is perfect, and this part definitely had some holes. When I was reading the part 6 manga, I didn't understand what was going on a lot of the time. But I think the anime did a better job explaining the events. I was disappointed that the other JoJos, Giorno and Josuke (and even Joseph if he's still alive lol), didn't make an appearance once Made in Heaven started accelerating time around the world. Especially since Giorno was a son of Dio and that was a plot point in Part 6. The final opening version 2 was absolute cinema. Jolyne was the first thing you see in the opening as a manga panel if you watch Part 1's opening (Sono Chi no Sadame). Seeing that sequence in reverse and it ening with Jolyne spinning into the animated show like Jonathan was a *Chef's kiss* My take on it is that, it's Irene and not Jolyne because she's no longer the same person that went to prison, got a stand, and experienced those hardships as Jolyne. Parts 1-5 still happened, but there is no Pucci in this universe to ruin her life. Jolyne's "happy ending" is that she's free from the Joestar/Dio conflict and experiencing a bizarre and tragic life. I guess it's implied she's in a better relationship with her father, compared to the original Jolyne's life. She's free to live her life as she pleases and fate had it that she met Anasui/Anakiss again as her boyfriend. My biggest gripe this season was Emporio as like the walking dictionary/know-it-all for everything. I can understand you need some one for explanations, but why does the kid have to be the one piloting a helicopter or driving the car? I wasn't really satisfied with the explanation for Heavy Weather turning people into snails and Sons of Dio as enemies. Also have you read/watched Holes? It's kind of creepy how similar it is to part 6. But that's a whole other can of worms lol Part 6 was the first part I was able to watch/wait for in real-time, so it actually really grew on me. I was able to binge watch the other parts as they came out earlier and so I found myself rewatching/reading part 6 a lot while waiting for the next Netflix batch of episodes. Overall I was left satisfied for this as the finale to the Joestar/Dio conflict. I have a lot of fun memories related to it. I remember seeing an advertisement for it at Times Square and thinking it was a big deal if it's on a big screen in NYC. Would love to discuss this more too! Don't forget to check out the Rohan Kishibe anime too :) Thanks for sharing your bizarre adventure with us!

PocariCalpico

About retcons and previous seasons: from my understanding but I might be wrong, there has actually been no changes about previous seasons during the ending. Anything in a point in time "before" Pucci's acceleration has been replayed exactly as-is in the new world, except for the people who died during time acceleration because there was no soul left to "inject" into the new world so they've been replaced in the timeline (so characters from part 6, but not the other ones, or at least I assume they didn't die during acceleration because why would they). Then when Pucci is killed without Made In Heaven being complete, the entire new world is erased and we go back to the previous universe, with the only change being that it exists as if Pucci never existed and had any influence on the world, so it changes the life of the P6 characters because he was heavily involved into their lives, but not the life of previous characters that never interacted with him

Hugehornet

Loved going on this bizarre adventure.

Angel Barrera

I didn’t realize this when I first saw the ending but the jojo naming convention was symbolic of how there will always be a jojo to fight dio’s consequences. By jolyne becoming Irene it means there are no more dio threats to deal with.

Angel Barrera

Not sure if it’s clearer in the manga but Because pucci died when maiden haven was still active they basically whipped pucci out of existence. The universe they’re in now is almost the same but without pucci they can live better lives. Don’t worry they didn’t retcon literally everything at the last second.

LET'S GOOOOO
