Now all we need is a scene of her turning Red into a deer for peeping on her while she was trying to take a bath.

Marshal Banana

Like a great follower of Hircine.

Tiberius Ponificus

Beautiful sketch! Raine really is perfect for feminine elegance.<br>In my 8th grade English classroom there was an illustration of Artemis I was rather infatuated with. This has the same feeling &lt;3

Ordithus

Raine: I killed your mother, now I’ll kill your father, where is he? Fawn: He’s hiding behind that bush. Raine: Thanks. Fawn: You’re welcome. Fawn’s Dad: CRUD!!!!

Actually, if I recall correctly, Diana, the goddess of the hunt, was normally accompanied by a deer.

I don't know about the "Hunt" part - Maybe for ships? I figured more of Love and Literature. Goddess, though? Most definitely.

There is a legend among the Wolven tribes. A forest glade no pack will go near. They say the game there is bountiful. The animals within of extraordinary quality and size. Yet despite this, it is considered grave taboo within Wolven culture to hunt within its boundaries. They say the wood is guarded by a powerful deity. A Patron Goddess of the Hunt, who takes the form of a white Wolfess with the antlers of a stag and eyes like rings of yellow amber. They say she is beautiful and terrible. She protects the creatures of the wood and punishes those who violate its sacred borders to steal resources or poach game. They say to even linger near the edge of that holy place is to invite madness. For anyone who does so is drawn in by the wood and its guardian, rendered helpless and lost amid the thickets and groves, and finally disappears. Lost forever to the something the Wolves called the Hunt Eternal. Though the exact Keidran translation is vague, and whether the lost ones take part as hunters, quarry, or both is a topic of some great debate among the differing sects within the tribes. Despite these warnings, I ventured to this Huntress' Wood to see for myself. I was not prone to superstition, but the reports of the unusual nature of the flora and fauna that could be found there piqued the naturalist in me. And I must admit, something about the legend of this Hunter's Goddess, fanciful though such a notion may be, also seemed intriguing. I vowed that I would not leave that place until I had drafted a full catalogue of its species, and seen for myself if horned Keidran counted among them. I did not have to wait long for my answer. Yesterday, I saw her. The Goddess. The vision. Standing in a clearing before me, plain as day. Her fur, clean and white as the driven snow. Her head wreathed in a thorny crown of stag's horn. She stared straight through me with eyes that glowed, amber and full as a hunter's moon. Her gaze was piercing and fierce, and in the span of a second I could feel the breadth of my every deed, measured and weighed like so many stones. She raised a bow of living wood and aimed. Without a thought, I knew her target was my very heart. Her fingers twitched, the arrow loosed, and time hung still on the razor's edge of its point. The missile passed and, feeling my life and soul pass with it in a rush of wind like a sharp sigh, I fell to the forest floor. Was I stricken? Was I saved? Somehow, I felt that the answer may have been both. But when at last I looked up to check, I could find neither the Huntress nor the arrow anywhere about. A shiver ran cold down my spine, and before I knew what I was doing, I retreated with all haste from that place to the seeming safety of my camp. Since that day, I have found myself entirely unable to sleep. My dreams are harried by arrows in flight and fangs glinting in the dark. Even when I wake, staring into the campfire until the gray dawn approaches, I swear I can catch glimpses of ivory fur and amber eyes flashing just beyond the tree line. I am terrified and thrilled. My mind races with an endless cacophony of questions. Am I hunted? Will I be caught? Why does such a part of me almost want to be? Tonight the moon is full and yellow like a great gleaming eye. The air sweet as honey and electric like the edge of a summer's storm. The forest is awake, bursting with all the splendors of life in bloom. It calls to me. SHE calls to me, howling in my blood, burning in my veins, and I must answer. I must, or I feel I may go mad. Tonight, I will venture once more into the Huntress' Wood. But as I do, there is one last thing I wonder. When I go into the wood tonight, will it be as hunter or prey? And once I find out... will I even care?

Roughlandin

Excellent art Tom. I would like to see a mythical series that follows in this vein.

ThirdKind

Yeah it's pretty and then she shoots your ass with an arrow

Quite Possibly a Sombrero

If Raine had a church, I'd get on my knees.

Roughlandin

In a wolf form. Fitting. So what are we waiting for? Let's build a temple to this goddess.

Reseen Dalls

Between this, Cute Clovis, and a certain Maren sketch that we'll see later, color voting is going to be tight.
