If this was meant to be happening in the timeline of current comic, that’s what I would imagine, because Evals don’t have the money needed to safely get back to doggy lands without being recaptured by somebody, nonetheless if he convinced Mike to come with, he would need some cash to pay for a safe journey and/or paperwork showing him as a free Keidran not to be re-captured.

If you look at it from a scientific standpoint, both Quadrupedalism and Bipedalism have their advantages and disadvantages. Quadrupeds are more stable than bipeds, but depending on size can be a bit difficult maneuvering. Bipeds, on the other hand, can get knocked down by almost anything, but can typically be fairly agile. Hence why some cats are learning to do both, so they can rule the world.
