It's just that right now, they're not the main focus of the story, and they haven't been for some time, but it is implied there's a bigger scheme going on in the background, a reason for allowing Keidrans to be impregnated by other species.

Trace has been The Mask Chaos’ pawn for the past who knows how long, and Ephemural (Neutral) has apparently been setting up Flora to be a sort of Messiah for the Keidran races. As such, the two trying to support each other didn’t mesh with Ephemural’s plans. We don’t talk about Order yet because… well… we haven’t seen Order in the comic yet.
