Pretty much spot on, except in the actual comic the Templar have kind of become a type of magic bearing military regime. Think Avatar: The Last Airbender’s 🔥🔥Fire Nation🔥🔥. As for the 100 years. We don’t know for sure. Tom’s working on this as either a second series to start, or something once he finishes the main comic story arc.

To answer to the best of what’s known, because the answers likely would be considered spoilers, yes, same canon, much later. Sam likely grew up with him (Eric and Kat situation) or took him in during his travels (kind of like Trace and Flora, but different). Beyond that, we’re unlikely to get too many answers because #Spoilers.
