Flora needed it. She's been away for so long and been so disconnected that she needed to have a bit of an awakening to how others would see it. I Don't hate them for it, I love the character developing that is going to come from that a story where everyone gets along with Flora would be very boring indeed and would not give us as good a Flora as we can have.
