The big different between kid vs big mom and kid vs shanks is that in one of the two fight, kid was prepared, and in the other fight he was taken out by a surprise attack - a yonko lvl surprise attack at that. For me it only show´s, on what level all these guys are, and how high the risks are. One misstake, just once dropping your guard - you are just gone. I do believe that Kid could have gone further against shanks, still would have lost, but he wouldn´t have been one shot whitout the surprise attack.

Anyone else notice that the gorosei all look like they are from different ages throughout time? Laws fruit is capable of making people immortal right? The gorosei are all directly under Im sama. I wonder if perhaps the position of gorosei is given to fleet admirals that Im sama personally trusts.

I think the world-shaking incident will be a clash between Luffy, Blackbeard, Shanks, Saturn and Kizaru. Shanks seems to want to go somewhere now and there are still 24 hours until the incident. If Koby is on Fullalead, then it will probably be Garp vs Aokiji.

Shanks has been written with pacifist tendencies from the start. The very first chapter attempts to show how Shanks is willing to let things go quite far before he is willing to use violence, but once that line is crossed, he will then explodes into action just like he did now, and perhaps even risk going too far. Shanks is written extremely consistently and it all makes a lot of sense. Luffy represents the good end of freedom, and Blackbeard represents the other far end extreme of what freedom entails. Shanks lies square in the middle. Shanks will represent the neutral or peacekeeper stance in the endgame, and he will rightfully be criticized for inaction. I think Shanks having been able to stop Blackbeard the entire time might actually end up being a major plot point which shows why Shanks way is inferior to Luffy's way. But I also think that both Blackbeard and the admirals will turn out to be far stronger than what we consider them to be right now. There is more to awakened logias and more to haki to discover. Not the least of which is how devil fruits, the void century, the will of d, the one piece and haki all connects. There is heavily foreshadowed reasons behind Shanks' apparent inaction. It's very clear that everyone is waiting for some conditions to be met before they can truly act.

I like that all of this is perfectly in line with their characters. Kidd has tendencies towards brutality, shown by hitting the weaker ships hard and fast, and overestimating his strength in challenging Shanks in the first place. On the other side, Shanks and his crew have literally murdered people who put his friends in danger, like in Romance Dawn.

I think this sets a bad precedent in the long term regarding any conversation about Shanks. I think it also makes his previous inaction to stop Blackbeard make him look foolish and stupid after spending chapters warning about "the dawn" or the coming storm. Bitch you could've stopped this. Is this a cool chapter? Absolutely. But it makes Shanks choice to just sit around and not fight, it makes him look like a dumbass and lazy. And there is a trend of Yonkos losing because of their inaction, this dude has done nothing except drink, and trick kids around the world into thinking they can join his crew.

I didn’t think kidd would get one shot by a yonko post wano ngl. He took a lot of hits from big mom. Shanks must be on roger type level

I don't think Kidd is done in the story, we still have the man marked with flames storyline with him. I think saul will probably save him since it sounded like they are friendly with one another?
