I'm convinced that Shanks knew what he fruit was, and that after Luffy ate it, he opportunistically lost his arm to manipulate Luffy. Not as a villain, but just towards whatever his big picture plan is

2023-02-14 21:36:30 +0000 UTCOne thing that was interesting reading the chapters week to week, was when Luffy came back as gear 5th, his heartbeat was "funny". Kinda like gear 5 was keeping him alive. It was a massive discussion at the time whether or not the drawback of Gear 5 was his heart stopping. Maybe Law having to use immortality surgery on him or something. We didn't know that he would just fall asleep for a week.
