Wano is my favourite arc purely because of this flashback. I mean there are a lot of great things in Wano but this Oden flashback is just so fucking good. Its literally perfect to me

I completely agree! Roger fit so well into the story, so much so that I forgot he was a new character (backstory wise). It felt like he was always there and everything was so natural. His introduction and behaviour just felt so ‘One Piece’ and I love it. I was worried he would feel unfamiliar or too huge for the story but it was all wonderfully executed. Well done to Oda and Toei.

Both manga and Anime Roger was done SO well. It's always a concern of mine when authors give backstory to established legends, espeically one that has had a huge impact on the world like Roger.

Can I just say, I LOVE the voice actor they picked for Roger. He has a deep, sexy voice but is also able to convey child like (Luffy like) moments when needed. It’s perfect and I got goosebumps when I first heard him speak.

The reason Ace didn't look like Roger at the beginning of the series is that Oda hadn't decided to make Ace Roger's son yet. That's why in Wano, with the flashback, Roger is redesigned to look like Ace. My headcannon is that the Roger at the beginning is the same Roger, just older and dying from an illness. That's why he looks different

People think that the island they were fighting on is Ruskaina which is the same island Rayaleigh took Luffy to train for 2 years I also just hope that Ruff actually took the time to listen to the ending themes when the anime had them back in the earlier episodes of not it just dosent hit the same. Also it’s really nice point where the manga podcast is in relation with these flashbacks
