She did not actively want any of this to happen, from her perspective, it's just people leaving her alone once again for something she has pretty much no control over. This doesn't justify anything she does as an adult of course but that backstory is really depressing

She ate Mother and it assimilated into her own body as her own power. No spoilers at this point, that scene never gets explained. It's pretty much implied. When a person with a fruit power dies, the essence of the fruit leaves the dead host and wanders around into the nearest fruit available. But because she ate Mother, it didn't need to go anywhere else.
