It is funny to me that you still call One Piece older at this point since Dressrosa was aired in 2014-2016 lol. I was in the same mindset when I read the story, like seeing Oda mention Twitter in the question corners between chapters felt so weird because a lot of this story came out before I was even born lol (specifically alabasta and before). Edit: Anyway, imo you're basically at the worst of the pacing, the main thing is you just love one piece so much that you don't mind more of it lol. The main thing is just that only a few important things happen per episode. They oftentimes split chapters up into more episodes, which results in Dressrosa taking more episodes in the anime than chapters in the manga despite having no fully filler episodes. Also, in terms of the arc in general, when it was coming out it caused a lot of people to just feel tired (although I'm just speaking on the behalf of the people at the time since I wasn't reading or watching One Piece yet) since the whole arc took like 3 years to complete so it was just years of Dressrosa (same thing is happening right now with Wano, a lot of people are tired after almost 4 years of it)

Sorry for the long comment. Other commenters are very right that week-to-week for dressrosa was rough. But i think it has to be said that there are at least three other factors why dressrosa felt so bad. 1. Compared to previous recent arcs, where the number of manga chapters and episodes match, or only differ slightly, Dressrosa has around 15% more episodes than chapters. This was noticable to a lot of people who read the manga first, especially with a long-ass arc such as this. 2. You can already clearly see, Dressrosa has a crapload of characters, and a lot of different intertwining plotlines. Each episode really only progresses one or two of them so it could happen that after waiting an entire week, you get an episode that only really focuses on plotlines you dont really care about that much, while you are teased by endless recaps reminding you of characters you ARE interested in but nothing really happens to them here. 3. IIRC, around the start of dressrosa was when AoT S1 aired, and around the end of dressrosa was when HeroAca S1 aired. Onepunch man S1 also aired sometime during dressrosa. Anime in general became really popular during this period, with a lot of the hit shows being high budget, seasonal, focused content. Compared to these seasonal shows, Toei's old, perpetually producing business model seems obsolete. For me personally, this was a period when watching the anime (other than select fight scenes) didnt feel as complementary to reading the weekly manga chapters as they have been before or they are currently, so i skipped a bunch of these. Despite all the problems Dressrosa is still fire. One Piece is just that good.

Other people are saying it, but it was definitely the having to watch/read it week to week, the speed at which you're going helps negate it, there are times when it speeds up and slows down, but one episode/chapter a week was rough, which is why so many people are jaded by it.

For me it was reading it weekly that made the pacing feel slow, it was about 100 chapters/episodes which took over 2 years to publish/release. What you've watched so far has been two or three months worth of episodes. The pacing is fine if you aren't reading/watching it week to week. Edit: You mentioned at the end you watched DBZ, yeah its no where near that bad lol

Not so fun fact: Oda probably referenced the Spanish Civil War with Doflamingo's revolt. Many people lost their families and to this day war crimes are unpunished and known torturers just died of old instead of ever going to jail. My great-grandmother died very similarly to Rebecca's, when she was going to buy food. After the war a dictatorship was enforced, which I'm guessing is portrayed by Doflamingo's rule. Other well-placed references can be seen, like Picasso's paintings in Giolla's power. Dressrosa is by no means my favourite arc, but I like that my country got quite the deep island

I dare you to watch a single episode every week XD. It feels completely different. And imagine you are maybe watching it on TV back in the day and can't skip Intro and recap. If you only get one episode per week any minute wasted for super long recap, the 6th flashback of the same scene and dragging filler scenes are getting annoying. But good for you that you don't have to endure that and can still enjoy it :)

This is mostly the point where pacing slows down, it gets worse near the end of the arc, there is a stretch where even the manga sometimes gets people saying it was a bit too drawn out, and the anime made that worse, but once this arc is over things improve so yeah, if by the end of the arc things don't feel that bad, everything just gets better (pacing wise) from there out. Also most of the ones who claim it's bad the most also tend to be people who started watching/reading when this arc was current and so was their first experience having to wait a week between chapters/episodes.

I’m convinced everyone just complains about pacing cuz the internet tells them to lol. I’ve watched through one piece twice now and it really doesn’t bother me. Seems like ruff is having the same experience. Idk why everyone tries to convince him so hard on EVERY VIDEO since he started one piece that he should dislike the pacing😂 I feel bad everyone else had such a horrible experience watching this masterpiece lol

Nah, you're not at the bad pacing yet. Things are still diverse and new and it doesn't feel super slow yet. Also, you're binging it, imagine watching 1 single episode per week, it's an entirely different experience. Binging it is better, but even binging it you will start to feel the bad pacing soon enough.

Also I think Nami didnt care if chopper sees her naked because he is a raindeer. Robin was bathing with Momo because he is a child. Chill down there is reasons for this
