here are the good marines. Coby, Smoker, ? (later in series), Tashigi is aite. i wouldnt count Helmeppo though lol. honestly theres only barely a handful of marines that believe in equality. Garp too which is why he didnt want to be an admiral. as long as you didnt hurt people he would let you go.

Don't read the manga yet. There is a lot of random stuff that where foreshadowed early that gets wrapped up later and so on... Just like this time. Wait until you catch up and then read about stuff you don't understand in the One Piece Wiki while reading the manga.

yeah it bothers me when he says that anyone who likes the marines is full of crap because of all the corruption, when there are many good marines that are for different types of justice.

I don't usually comment on these videos, but about people defending the Marines it's because, just like in real life, nothing is just black and white. There are gray areas. Just like how there's real shitty Marines there are amazing ones as well. I can't say all of my examples because they haven't shown up yet, but one that was brought up just a few episodes ago is Bell-mère. The same goes for pirates and literally everyone in One Piece. If you only look for the bad in Marines that's what you'll see. You have to recognize the good ones too.

The third group of Sun pirates is Marco and his people who became slave traders. They caught Camie on Sabaody and brought her to Duval.

Those 3 guys that walked away was part of Macro Pirates. They were introduced way back before the Sabaody, as the 3 fishmen who "caught" Camie together with the Flying Fish Riders which was led by Duval.

Idk if its late for you to read it but they split into 3 groups: Arlong pirates, Sun pirates and those who do whatever they want. They just showed just the 3 people who walked away back then. They didnt join Arlong

Exactly, like look what Enel/Eneru did. He literally destroyed Angel Island wiped it off the map. I think the answer Oda is trying to convey is that all pirates are not necessarily bad and all marines are not necessarily good. Everyone worries about the navy with good reason too (Akianu), but look at the ones above them… the World Government is the main issue in this story. Dragon gets it. Cut off the head or reform the top and watch it trinkets down and transform the navy.

I totally agree with you on the navy organization being messed up. I think people who defend the navy are not necessarily defending there actions or methods. Also, I don’t know were everyone gets the inclination that everyone in the navy know what’s going on. For example, Jaguar D. Saul was a vice- admiral and didn’t even know about the poneglyphs really or anything until it was too late and look what happened to him. So imagine everyone below that rank and how much they know. It’s propaganda by the world government. The World Government: The Five Elders, the Celestial Dragons, Cipher Pol are the really bad people in this story. I don’t know why everyone doesn’t realize that they are manipulating the navy too in the false name of “Justice.”

One thing I always notice here but it is probably just me is that Koala looks a bit like young Nami. Not a whole lot but I see a slight resemblance. I wonder how that affected Arlong during Arlong Park. Obviously, he still would have been cruel though I wonder if that made it any worse?

It's always hard to say when's a good time to go and read the manga from the start. Personally I'd wait till your up to date in the anime and then read the manga. This then can give you a way to still put One Piece content out something like Merphy does but you can go over things you might not have picked up on back when watching the anime + the small cover stories that sometimes happen.

I saw somewhere someone said Oda did explain how Otohime gave birth to Shirahoshi. She was born small, in the manga at one point we see Otohime being pregnant, and then rapidly grew to her size.

The third group is either just the fishman who wanted to have a peaceful life, or it's Macro and his fellow fishman who are actually worse then Arlong. At least Arlong had semi justifiable reasons why he became scum and it was directed at humans. Macro was shown during Sabaody as a slave trader. For a former sun pirate to actually sell not only humans but his own kind to become slaves is a whole new low.

As someone else already said, in Japanese it's シャボンディ which we would romanize as "Shabondi" (or maybe "Shyabondi" depending who you ask). The "n" is definitely correct. Although, to be completely accurate the "o" should be "bone" rather than "bond".

Honestly, if you want to start the manga, just start it. Every arc has callbacks, the whole story is filled with them. Re-reading an arc or a section is much, much quicker than re-watching. It won’t make much of a difference when you start reading. The next two arcs aren’t as heavy on call backs. If you’re uneasy about starting to read now, you’re better off just waiting until you catch up. At least then you’ll have plenty of One Piece to read while you’re waiting week to week with the rest of us.

Most new arcs can give you one or several reasons to want to go back and reread past ones, so I dunno if there really is a best time to start reading the manga. For what it's worth Merphy decided that the timeskip was a good time to do a re-read. Seeing as you probably have your plate full already, with other shows and stuff, and if you wanna do arc reviews, maybe it would be best for you to wait and be caught up before actually starting the manga.

The 3rd group are the 3 Fishman on Sabaoty which captured Camie and gave to the auctionhouse to sell for slavery. So it is no Spoiler u know them already ;) u saw arlong took his crew with him jimbei took his crew with him and the 3 fishman under the fishman marco were the 3rd group.

You can't really measure the bad by the actions themselves, its the amount of power they wield the real difference in this perspective. Imagine how Crocodile would rule if he were to have succeeded, it may have been way worse than the world govmnt. I don't defend marines, but I say try to find a better govmnt within the world (also applies to this one); maybe that's why Luffy will become king of the pirates, since that title practically means of the world with the amount of power required to it.

It's because it is not something Oda wants you to know, te titles of the manga chapters are more vague, it's just that since in Japan everyone reads the manga, Toei just doesn't care about spoiling, they do it for manga readers more than anime only people. If you don't believe me just watch the Wano openings.

Again you are right. It is definitely Shabondy Park and not Shabody. "Shabon" is from Shabon-tama/Shabondama (シャボン玉) which means Soap bubble. And Shabondy Park had these bubbles like Soap bubbles floating all over the island. So it is definitely Shabondy.

I never got why people felt the opening titles to One Piece was a spoiler. I mean a preview of what’s to expect like trailers or the next episode or a movie aren’t spoilers. Anything the creators want to show you can’t be called a spoiler because they want you to know/see that in the title trailer/preview. There is still so much more to learn or surprise in each episode besides what the title mentions

You have a point though, all the pirates are not good either, there are bad ones too. I think why we hate the Navy more is that the Navy as an organization itself is kinda messed up. I mean, the way they are used as hunting dogs for the Tenryubito, how they use CP to silence innocent people like the Oharas. And they do it in the name of "Justice", whatever that means.

Note on the Sun Pirates split: We have met Macro and his partners. They were the fishmen slavers allied with the Flying Fish Riders way back before Sabaody who had grabbed Camie. You just don't remember because they're scrub trash who don't matter to the story. :D
