One Piece Episode 538-540 REACTION

Imo Otohime and Fisher Tiger are two of the greatest flashback characters in One Piece. For me even more than the likes of Bellmere, Hiluluk and Olvia. There is one that may be better than them all, but it is not yet time for that.

Whilst I remember fresh after you mentioned pacing. Most people make it sound worse then it is. The speed at which your watching the show it wont feel as bad as what people make it out to be. But most people have been watching the show weekly I think thats where the larger part of complaining comes from.

I’ll explain, since it won’t be addressed anymore: That weird scene was the queen’s observation haki (remember Coby at marineford?). She was mad at him but she was literally feeling his pain so she was going back and forth with slapping and crying.

You are finally in this flashback...! I don't even know what to say... Fishman Island Flashback makes me so emotional. Themes, main characters, obstacles aroud them it just fits. And it's hard. Maybe even harder on rewatch. I can't wait to see your thoughts and feelings, when you close it up...

I am not saying you should like her since each person can and should have different people they like, but I like Queen Otohime. I can understand why you think her first interaction is a little weird but I think it was a good way to show her quirk and be a strong point of justice vs compassion. Yes we feel bad for when things go wrong, like nothing he could have done to stop his shop from burning but that still doesn't give them the right to steal. Saying that does not mean we don't have compassion but people do think that is what it means. Just another point mentioned before the flashback, Jimbei says 2 different ways and we still don't know which was right. I think that this is the redeeming quality about this arc though not to say I hate this arc, just not the biggest fan of it. (Though rewatching has helped appreciate it better.)

The way Otohime said it, is to stop the cycle. Imagine the guy the father stole from has to steal from someone else to support his 10 starving kids and the cycle thing and being stuck (literally) is strong in this arc.

This and next arc has many "weirdness" to it, feels like Oda writing took a bit of deb after Marine Ford, or maybe he was trying out some new styles of jokes, but its One Piece, even at its worst its stil so freaking epic.
