I think alot of people overlook just how strong Netero is, it may have cost him his life to put the king on deaths door but just sit back and take it in just how strong Mereum is and the fact that Netero did what he did, even before that to cover someone like Mereum whos strength is mind boggling in wounds is crazy. Netero was by far the strongest human, such a shame he had to die.

I think you missed a key line to the narrative of the story. “How are humans and ants different“. Netero knew he was being ignorant and also knew the rose bomb represented the malice of humans

nah the ants were way worse in hunter than the humans. they litteraly wanted to kill 99.99 of all humans and keep the rest as strong soliders. LOL

I think you missed the part when the narrator said "How are humans and ants different?", humans used that same bomb to take hundreds of thousands of other humans life while the ants killed other thousands of humans. Another thing is that the real translation isn't "Humanity's bottomless space for evolution" but "Humanity's bottomless malice". This makes you think about real life shit which is also one of the meanings of this arc. As Meruem sat down wanting to talk to Netero since he didn't want to fight Netero no more, Netero said "how dare an ant looks up at a human" which once again, proves that the both of them are just as bad and if the humans aren't ever worse. So at the end of the day, Netero is one of those humans and didn't necessarily deserve to live more than Meruem. What Netero did wasn't to save the world at all, as he said "If I had the choice, I wouldn't be going through so much trouble", Netero did it to save the hunter association since if the ants weren't all eliminated, the association would take the blame. Ants, Humans, all as bad.

Remember during the Hunter exam arc when Netero was playing the ball game with Gon and Killua? How Killua noticed he was only using his right leg and left arm against them? Those were the exact limbs that Meruem severed. It's funny how early that foreshadowing was. Togashi is an amazing writer.

The translation for his speech in the manga means "bottomless evil/malice." The anime changed it to "evolution," even in the Japanese (akui in the manga vs. shinka in the anime). The word for evolution appeared in a footnote in the manga. The word for malice does not appear in the anime.

Ever since I saw the scene at 3:50 I've ALWAYS wanted it tattooed on me that or at LEAST 12:37. COULD YOU IMAGINE?!?!? In a Japanese art style by a high skilled tattoo artist??? Amazing. Simply amazing. The fact that the fight did not even last a minute really shows the difference in strength. Netero is literally the top of the top tier in the Hunter Association. Its terrifying how strong Meruem is... & Netero saying "a prayer comes from the heart" is one of the most powerful & meaningful quotes in the entire series. It literally gives me chills whenever I hear it uttered. Your reaction was amazing as always, I seriously can't wait for the next coming episodes. Be prepared to laugh, cry, and be completely content with the following episodes. Remember to take it all in.

This arc alone deserves a 11/10 for his writing and emotional impact, I mean the narration is god tier, the characters who appear in this arc are part of the best characters in the series, to add to this we have this amazing ed song we get each episode who give us a feeling of closure as if most episodes are individual masterpiece. no ones mentioned this so far, in the japanese text of the manga the way netero talks about humans potential for "evolution" is written in the same way as the japanese word for "malice". togashi really flexing his literary skills.

the explanation of the "poor man's rose" is one of my favorite things ever in shonen. just a masterful understanding of the real world ways terrorists/political violence is carried out.

The thing Meruem didn't understand about humans and games; if we get mad enough we'll just flip the board so no one wins. "Meruem never expected someone to blow-up the Gungi Board." Is the line in the manga that really gets this across. Also fun fact: the bias that Netro showed(right leg, left arm), is the same bias he showed in the Hunter License arc when he was playing that game vs Gon and Killua

What I like about hxh is the character development for gon and killua. In the show I love that show a contrast with killua and gon. In the beginning of hxh gon was more of the “light” character and killua was the “dark” character. But now through the story both characters have to some degree swapped personality. They both for the better or worse swapped personalities a little and I really enjoy seeing that progression in there characters.

I 100% agree with that hxh strengths are not in hype fights and fantastic set pieces. Those are present and when it happens its fantastic , but its all about context, character dynamics and themes. For better or for worse . Lots of people get disappointed that the show dont have as many fights as other shounens , and thats fair . Especially since hxh as a series been super well regarded and hyped up. Its just either managing your expecations or going completely blind without preconceicved notions of what makes a good shounen, is the best way to enjoy hxh. That dont mean that the show aint without serious flaws .
