I rarely get to do these memes that go around, but I put a little time into this one after finishing the Natani and Kat pic. Just good to get some pose practice in.
Anyway, time to talk about comic time. The Makwa and Kian comic won last month's poll, but not by a margin that was like a super-blowout or anything. If it was like 80% of the votes were for the comic, I'd feel very comfortable with just going all in on it. But it was more like a plurality of people voted for it, not a majority. I'm really happy to get a chance to do it, but I want you guys to stay happy too. So I'm still going to do sketch requests while I'm working on the comic. The sketch requests generally don't take me too long (I generally allocate about 2 days to each sketch), and sketching is nothing but good for me. More practice, more speed, better pictures, it's all good. So July 1st, expect to see a sketch request submission post here. Depending on how long this comic takes to produce, we might take a break in the middle and do a color pic poll with the sketches. If I can keep progress going well on the comic, maybe we just do one poll at the end with all the sketches. We'll see.
For the comic itself, I have a bit of prep work to do. First thing I want to do is some studies. I hear people say I draw male lupine anatomy quite well, but I'm not satisfied with it myself, and I'm basically going to do a sketch page of nothing but that, work on getting better at it. Second thing is refining the comic outline. The outline provided was six pages, but around page 4-5 I think it's a little weak. I'd like to expand it, add one more page of lewds/escalating pleasure in there, focus some more on their faces and expressions. Maybe squeeze an internal shot in there somewhere. Third thing will be putting together some background references/a basic 3d model of the showers/locker room I can use for reference. A little bit of time commitment there, but it will massively speed things up when it comes to actually drawing. Especially for the tilework in the shower.
When it comes down to actually drawing the comic, there's a couple things I'm throwing around in my mind. One is kind of process related, one is kind of technique related. Process-wise, I've been thinking if it might not be better to sketch the whole comic out at once, then ink it all, then flat color it all, then shade it all. Doing it all like that may make the quality of the comic more even throughout (or it might not, I've never tried it, just guessing here), but it would also mean you guys won't see a finished comic page anytime soon. That's a process thing, that I'd like to hear your feedback on. Technique-wise, I would kind of like to try doing some kind of cell shading, something simplified. Fully rendering things like I do for normal pics is feasible, but time consuming. It's not really a technique that's great for comics. So, maybe I'll do a test image, or test page, to try that out, and see what you guys think of the results.
