This translation really doesn't do any justice to how Mr. 2 talks, and thus how Nami sounds while mimicking him. The subs just go "Gimme a break!", when his distinctive "Quit joking around!" "Jōdan ja nai wa Y~A~O~" line is just so... iconic.

@Marc-Andre Fournier I was merely giving an explanation for why people say Thriller Bark is long/slow since Ruff commented on not knowing why in the video.. I'm happy Ruff is enjoying it, and I'm enjoying his reactions to it too. As for an alternative way it could have been done? Easy. Don't make One Piece have to be on-air every week. Allow season breaks like normal anime. It's a bed Toei made for themselves. Sometimes the effect of the story suffers as a result. Late Act 2 Wano was pretty grueling, ngl. Lol.

actually I'd be totally ok with at least a few more filler so that the canon episodes in later arcs can have slightly better pacing. Between arcs ofc and not within an arc. There are so few fillers in OP to begin with. Man if I think back to Katakuri vs. Luffy... that was horrible. waiting week after week just for 20 seconds of real actual progress. Dressrosa already made me question if the anime is still good but that shit made me drop it and only read the manga (which is awesome 99% of the time) and I only return to the anime once in a while when I can watch several episodes together. That way it is still enjoyable. That is also why Ruff probably will think different about the pacing and won't agree to those who are criticizing later arcs for it. Lucky Ruff :D But someday he will catch up and will experience it too.

I don't necessarily disagree but what would you recommend as an alternative? A seasonal anime would probably be best but that wasn't the norm when OP first started and it'd be kinda hard to switch to a seasonal half way through the series. I don't think anyone would be pleased with a bunch of fillers in the middle of of an arc (I'm looking at you Bleach) so slowing it down so they don't catch up is pretty much the only option.

Skipea dragged in the manga however. I guess you could say all this complaints are not about how slow it is, but how slower in relation to the original. I love Thriller Bark too! So I hope the One Piece community being a bit overcritical doesn't stop you from enjoying this or any saga. There are worse arcs, but no bad arcs

It’s slower paced for sure compared to previous arcs but IMO it’ fits what they were going for. Skypia dragged way more imo

I’m about a third of the way through Thriller bark and haven’t had any issues personally. Tbh as someone who likes horror/corny horror movies I’ve been loving the way the pacing has been 🤷‍♂️

Thriller Bark is "long" because it's 45 episodes for 48 chapters. In comparison, most of early One Piece is a 1:2 ratio. East Blue, for example, is 100 chapters, but the anime is around 50 episodes give or take when removing filler. Realistically, Thriller Bark SHOULD have been about 24-27 episodes, but Toei being Toei. This is why people start criticizing the pacing around Enies Lobby and Thriller Bark.

Since no one has pointed it out yet, Brooks fighting style is fencing (for those who don't know, you stab people with a very thin blade instead of slicing) now brook uses slashing techniques (3 verse humming arrow notch slash / etc.) But he focuses on quick jabs mostly.

Notice that when the zombies are supposed to go after Franky and Robin after they fall down, Zoros zombie goes the wrong way, even as a zombie, Zoro has no sense of direction.

Ahhh, that was such a good reaction! I LOVE Robin's aesthetic in Thriller Bark, I love Brook and his amazing swordsmanship and I absolutely adore all of strawhats osts especially Luffy's, Franky's and Sanji's!! OH and Franky's nunchacks were awesome! Lol I loved your face when Brook sliced up that spider, you jaw was almost on the ground xddd

oh, there are many more silly/funny arcs like this, but they also still manage to keep a level of seriousness. It never becomes too much in my opinion. They are good at balancing silly with badass

I really hope he watches episode 384 even though it is filler. I think it’s a good way to end the arc. Although it is only one episode it gives Brook a lot of characterization and it gives us a moment to relate with him before the events of the next arc.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. The argument that made most sense was that they traveled to "the next island" but did they ? they went there to go back to Water 7, and they didn't use a log. So yes I agree that it's just Water 7.

Enis Lobby is NOT it's own arc. I don't know how that started but I've never seen a clearer example of herd mentality. There is no official "arc" structure in one piece. That's just us deciding where the lines are. And no offense, but whoever decided Enis Lobby was a different arc from Water 7 was a moron (F?&ck u, fight me).

By the way, the next "arc" on Crunchyroll is similar to the whole deal with Water 7, with it really being composed of 5 separate arcs, though one of them is only like 10 episodes, it just doesn't really fit to be described as a part of either of the arcs before or after it.

Brook's sword is pretty cool in my opinion it's hidden within his cane so it doesn't look like he's carry a sword around with him. Also unlike Zoro who puts a lot more power into his sword attacks Brook's fighting style seems to be more based on speedy attacks
