Denethor also had one of the "seeing stones" with which Sauron had been feeding him messages of despair for Gondor's future. Doesn't excuse his behavior toward his son or his giving up at the first sign of Sauron's army, but there ya go.

No matter how many movies you ever watch from now, no matter how brilliant, no matter how wonderful, you'll never watch anything quite like this one final ending. It left everybody speechless & drained, I remember, in the movie theatre. No wonder it swept the board for Oscars that year.

It was giving Gollum 😂

Regarding your question about Frodo, it is a good thing for him personally to leave. Sadly, the war didn't end for Frodo. He did make it back home but he was affected deeply, physically, emotionally even spiritually. The Ring, the stab wound from the Witch King, Shelob's sting ... all that destroyed him. In Valinor, where the elves and spiritual beings such as Gandalf live, Frodo can find some healing and some peace. These themes are particularly poignant, when you consider that Tolkien fought in WW1. The books are great, if you're looking for an interesting read. There are also some great YouTube channels, such as "Nerd of the Rings", to learn more about Tolkien's stories. 2024-03-23 06:27:47 +0000 UTCTo clarify the ending a little since you said you were so confused Frodo's stab wound and the effects of the ring were threatening his health and his trauma was too much on top of it, and so he went with the Elves, Bilbo and Gandalf to what is more or less the afterlife where he could be kept safe and healed. Which is where my sobby, sappy, teary comment is coming from I think haha. And in the stories themselves and the author's letters Sam gets to go there too in his old age and reunite with Frodo and Bilbo, and hang forever, Gimli gets to go with Legolas which is an incredibly high honor and no other dwarf ever has or will do the same, and Merry and Pippin go visit Aragorn and get buried right next to him and Arwen (who passes away the same day as Aragorn almost on purpose) in his tomb side by side. Aghhh the waterworks lmao, I just thought you'd be happier about the ending knowing they get to be together again

Storm loved you it was so clear to see, I'm not religious but I still hope someday you two get to reunite too and me and my parrot Isabel can watch these movies with you. Thanks so so so much I'm sorry if this is too forward I am just bawling over here, I needed this, these stories and movies mean the worldddd to me
