Cliff x Eugene- More Comics and Doodles!

Early access comic pages, and some doodles from asks etc!

[edited to have more of a coming out! The original end is on the last slide. This is further ahead in canon, there will be a few comics before this where Eugene hasn't come out yet]

This dance comic started out as just a few pics of Eugene dancing, and I expanded it from there, hence the slightly different layouts! I think timeline wise this is still before anything has happened between them, but it's a little later than where we are currently. I want to draw more of Cliff playing housekeeper, and some other things haha. Speaking of...the tiny laundry comic is during those two weeks of penance >:).

At the end I included some process things, I don't tend to look for pose references unless I'm struggling, but for dance poses I find it pretty important. I have no idea how to draw disco dancing off the top of my head, so I used these three poses from a video as ref! Also I thought I'd share my sketches, tbh if the sketch doesn't need to be readable to anyone else I often just do the absolute minimum, and work it out as I ink haha. The main things for me are gesture, vague composition and expression- I think most people would describe this as a thumbnail more than a sketch tbh.

A little addition to the extra dance comic page- I was doodling ideas to pass time while I supervised Josie in the garden (so she didn't murder any birds or escape...) And I really wanted to get this part into the comic- Cliff holding Eugene up and looking at him like he's the sun :'). I didn't feel like this fit into the vibe of the first comic with the sweet but quiet end, which is why theres a vague extra magical page that maybe happened at some other point in the evening.

Some music thoughts!
So if I completely ignore the meaning of the Neil Diamonds song ‘I Am… I Said’, and read lonely closeted gayness into it instead- brb crying :).

Also Cheryl Lynn’s ‘Got to be Real’ was pretty iconic with the gays lmao, I think especially because of balls and drag realness!

Anyway I think Eugene is a huge Neil Diamond fan, as well as Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan, but also Frankie Valli, Cher, BeeGees, Donna Summer, Patti Smith, The Bangles, The Beatles, Kate Bush, Fleetwood Mac…a lot of the popular stuff!

Cliff is into Black Sabbath, The Clash, AC/DC, Dio, Metallica, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Talking Heads, The Cure, Pychadelic Furs, Bowie, all the rock classics tbh, but they both have a lot of overlap. I think Eugene likes things that are a bit softer but he’s not opposed to rock, and Cliff isn’t the biggest fan of slow solo stuff unless it’s doing something interesting.
I will work on their playlists… I have them but I ain’t ready to share yet.

Also I will take it easier next week haha, I know I’ve been in your emails basically every day. I’ve been so close to finishing these two longer comics the last few weeks, and I don’t have the restraint to spread them out ;).
Unfortunately because I’ve spent most of my free time on digital art, the traditional sketchbook update will be a while longer!
