Oh boy, as usual I really should have posted earlier, I thought 'I don't have that much in my sketchbook, I'll wait a bit' but that's because I did it all digitally and there's actually way too much now lmao. As usual the exclusive stuff is first, and the stuff I've posted online is at the end!

I finally bought a real fixative after using a can of cheap hairspray for ten years*, and I dug out a pencil that doesn't require a lot of pressure to use- and I really like it! It was nice to be able to get the stronger sideways strokes for filling in. (its a mars lumograph 8B)

*honestly it barely worked I don't know why I stuck with it

I also got a cheap duplicate book, and a calligraphy pad at a village bring and buy, so I'm very spoiled for choice on extra paper haha! (duplicate book is when you write on one side and it duplicates onto the next sheet, it reminds me of like...lino print, somehow)

Lots of portrait studies, honestly I don't know what possessed me, it was kinda fun to find a brush I enjoyed painting with in clip studio. I'm really fussy so this is no easy task. The one I've been using here has a colour jitter, so it jumps up and down the spectrum slightly, making it a bit more interesting in flat colour areas. I struggled especially because the texture density was too much texture on 6% and too little on 7%, but I kind of combined them to a nice effect.
I am however gutted that it doesn't really pair nicely with ink haha, though maybe it's because I'm using too-dark colours and not letting the lines do their job. (you can see me trying on the bottom left of the page containing the bright yellow+blue head, and again on the blue and red portraits page on the bottom right)
