Prompto is a masked vigilante in insomnia, when he joins the crownsguard he is more skilled than expected but also clearly pretending he's not
Noct and co encountering him and he outsmarts them constantly.
Maybe he even had the inside scoop because its often talked about at the citadel
He doesn't have a curfew because his parents aren't around and he saw so much crime as a child that he decided to do something about it.
MT bg probably helps with his skill
i imagine Noct is like
'Have you heard of that vigilante guy...Im not allowed to say this because he's a criminal but omg Prom i wish you were there - he was so cool!'

I love this idea! He's fit, got a life he doesn't want them to know about, is already seen as different, and he's not blind to it like most people he knows? Might as well, right? 😍
