The thing about these backgrounds is that you can ready feel that nervousness/fear-induced nausea that people often get during conversations like this. I’m wondering if the background will smooth back out as they come to understand each other (relief, peace)? Or get darker or sharper or cooler if they both think that Julie is only attracted to men (sadness, regret, fear…)? These backgrounds really have people thinking and feeling and wondering, which is what I love best about visual storytelling, the complexity within the simplicity.
