Ruth’s Early Design

As you can see, the first designs on the left are pretty Niu-ish. She was originally suppose to be the very stone cold and analytical kind of genius... before I decided to make Ruth more fun and energetic.
Which led to the bottom right design. She ended up looking similar to Penny in terms of features (red hair, freckles, and braids), so I made them cousins! And then I did the unfinished top right sketch where I started to try and give Ruth wilder hair.
And if you couldn’t guess, I ended up recycling Ruth’s scrapped design for Niu. I do that a lot...
