Pokémon: My Titles Know No Limits! [545]

Chi-Yu froze when it heard August’s command, astonished that a mere human dared to order an attack on it.

Even more unbelievable was that Lugia actually obeyed!

Baby Lugia inhaled briefly.

In the next instant, a powerful blast of water erupted from its mouth. Although Baby Lugia wasn't the true lord of ocean currents, using Hydro Pump was still effortless.

As the water shot toward Chi-Yu, the fiery fish didn’t sit idly. Twisting its body, fierce flames erupted around it, forming thick clouds of smoke that swiftly concealed its presence.

[Smokescreen]!

The [Hydro Pump] collided with the flames, partially evaporating. Once the smoke cleared, Chi-Yu was nowhere in sight.

“Where’d it go?” Iono and the two Magnemite on her head looked around in confusion.

Baby Lugia also scanned the cave, unable to spot Chi-Yu’s whereabouts.

“Ao~!”

Chien-Pao lifted a snowy paw, helpfully pointing upward for Lugia.

Chi-Yu clung to the ceiling, quietly swimming along the rocky surface toward Baby Lugia.

Exposed, Chi-Yu shot a furious glare at Chien-Pao.

Traitor!

With a sharp flick of its tail, Chi-Yu gathered roaring flames in front of its body, condensing into a molten orb before launching straight at Baby Lugia.

[Inferno]!

The flames rushed forward, and the cave’s temperature instantly surged, making everyone’s mouths dry with unbearable heat.

Before August could say a word, Chien-Pao thoughtfully unleashed an [Icy Wind], neutralizing the blistering heat.

Meanwhile, Baby Lugia fearlessly surrounded itself with swirling water, charging head-on toward Chi-Yu’s flames.

[Liquidation]!

Flames repeatedly evaporated Lugia’s watery armor, yet the water kept regenerating. Powering through Chi-Yu’s blazing attack, Lugia reached Chi-Yu in moments.

Chi-Yu attempted a desperate [Will-O-Wisp] to burn Lugia and weaken it, but the ghostly flame struck harmlessly against the [Sky Plate] on Lugia’s chest… and fizzled out completely.

Seeing Chi-Yu’s dumbstruck expression, Baby Lugia glanced down briefly at the plate, then retaliated with another forceful [Hydro Pump].

The powerful water blast slammed Chi-Yu backward into the rock wall. Its intense heat instantly melted the stone into magma, which quickly cooled and trapped half of its body within solid rock.

Before the stunned Chi-Yu could free itself, Lugia’s [Sky Plate] began glowing ominously.

Sensing danger, Chi-Yu desperately called out to Ting-Lu, hoping for help against Baby Lugia and the traitorous Chien-Pao.

Ting-Lu awkwardly averted its gaze in shame.

Sorry to disappoint, but I'm a traitor too.

For good measure, Ting-Lu reinforced the rocky prison around Chi-Yu, adding insult to injury.

Chi-Yu nearly passed out from frustration.

By then, Baby Lugia had finished charging. Bathed in a brilliant white aura boosted by the [Sky Plate], it prepared its next move.

[Sky Attack]!”

At August’s order, Baby Lugia flapped its wings powerfully, creating hurricane-force winds in the cave, then slammed head-first into Chi-Yu.

Though Chi-Yu desperately tried dodging, it was hopelessly trapped in rock—too late to avoid the powerful strike.

BOOM!

The cavern trembled violently as Baby Lugia’s glowing form crashed directly into Chi-Yu, shattering the surrounding rock wall.

“Why do I have a bad feeling about this?” Sabrina eyed the spreading cracks on the cave walls.

Right as she spoke, the fissures rapidly widened.

Iono’s eyes shot wide open. “It's collapsing—run!”

She dashed forward but quickly tripped over her own ankle-length hair.

Splat!

Iono hit the ground face-first, looking painfully spectacular.

But there was no time for sympathy. Without missing a beat, August ran past, grabbed Iono by her clothes, threw her over his shoulder, and kept running.

On its way out, Ting-Lu casually scooped up Chi-Yu with its bronze vessel, carrying the dazed fish as it bolted from the collapsing cave.

Seconds after they emerged, the cave completely collapsed with a thunderous roar.

“It really collapsed!” Sabrina exclaimed in shock.

Baby Lugia awkwardly scratched its head, looking extremely embarrassed.

August patted Lugia comfortingly, assuring it that accidentally using too much force was perfectly understandable—it was still growing, after all.

Nearby, Iono rubbed her chest painfully, looking miserably at everyone along with her Magnemite.

“Ouch, it really hurts...”

Just as August was about to summon Gardevoir to heal her, Sabrina quickly approached Iono first.

“Want me to rub it for you?”

Before Iono realized what was happening, Sabrina reached out.

“Eh?”

August: “...?”

You two…are acting really suspicious.

...

When Chi-Yu woke up, it found itself surrounded by the human and its two traitorous comrades.

“Now,” August addressed Chi-Yu calmly, “I'll give you two choices.”

Holding up a finger, August smiled, “One: join us.”

Chi-Yu immediately shook its head in defiance.

I'm a Treasure of Ruin, a legendary Disaster Pokémon! I’ll never surrender like those two traitors!

“Oh, choosing option two?” August’s smile deepened. “It's been a long time since a Pokémon picked option two.”

Chi-Yu paused, suddenly filled with dread.

What’s option two...?

“Great question!” August tossed two Poké Balls, revealing Reshiram and Xerneas in a flash of light.

Facing Chi-Yu’s terrified stare, August casually explained, “Option two is basically option one—but first, you get beaten up by them.”

“You sure about option two?”

Chi-Yu shook its head furiously, suddenly extremely cooperative.

“So, you’re choosing to join willingly?” August confirmed.

Chi-Yu wanted to refuse, but gazing fearfully at Reshiram and Xerneas, it swallowed nervously, then nodded reluctantly.

Now it finally understood why its comrades turned traitor.

Surrendering before overwhelming strength…isn't shameful.

...

After thoroughly persuading Chi-Yu with a combination of logic and raw intimidation, August finally captured it with a Master Ball.

Now comfortably settled atop Ting-Lu’s bronze vessel, Chi-Yu enthusiastically guided them toward the last shrine, eagerly sharing Wo-Chien’s weaknesses to ensure its quick capture.

It didn’t want to hog the honor of being August’s Pokémon alone—such good fortune had to be shared among brothers, after all. Ruin Pokémon stuck together!

Seeing Chi-Yu’s sudden enthusiasm, Chien-Pao scoffed disdainfully. And you had the nerve to call me a traitor? Even I wasn't this eager!

Just then, August’s phone rang. It was Geeta.

“Geeta?” August answered, surprised.

“Did you watch the promo video?” she asked immediately.

“Nicely done. Never do it again,” August replied flatly.

Right now, his life was like dancing on a razor’s edge. One more incident might truly be fatal.

Geeta laughed lightly on the other end.

August sighed, “You didn’t just call to gloat, did you?”

“Of course not,” Geeta turned serious. “August, where are you now?”

“Hmm...” August glanced around. “I just caught Chi-Yu. We’re near Iono’s gym now, heading to capture Wo-Chien soon. Everything should be settled shortly.”

Iono didn’t even react at the mention of her hometown—she was too busy blushing furiously and hiding behind Cynthia, warily watching Sabrina.

Geeta exhaled in relief. “We just received news. Wo-Chien’s seal at the Grasswither Shrine was completely broken. It’s causing widespread devastation.”

“Hm?”

August quickly checked his map, realization dawning.

No wonder the seals of Ting-Lu and Chi-Yu had been intact. He'd traveled opposite to Team Rocket’s trio—after releasing Chien-Pao, they'd immediately moved on to Wo-Chien, narrowly missing him.

“Don't worry, I'll head there right away!”

Ending the call, August frowned thoughtfully. Could Jessie, James, and Meowth really cause so much damage? He doubted their capability to pull off such large-scale chaos.

“What’s wrong?” Cynthia asked gently.

“Change of plans. No time for leisurely sightseeing now,” August replied, summoning Salamence again.

...

Grasswither Shrine lay at Paldea’s southern tip near the sea. Approaching from above on Salamence, they witnessed drastic devastation below.

Leaves had fallen from trees, revealing bare, lifeless branches. Once-lush grass turned yellow and brittle. Even the Grass-type Pokémon slumped weakly, drained of vitality.

“How did it end up like this?!” Iono gasped. “Did Wo-Chien cause all this?”

Though raised hearing tales of the Ruin Pokémon, she'd never witnessed their devastation firsthand. Even Chien-Pao’s blizzard had been minor compared to Wo-Chien’s widespread desolation.

Cynthia compared it silently to Dialga and Palkia’s destruction on Mt. Coronet, concluding Wo-Chien still posed slightly less threat.

“This is the power of a Disaster Pokémon,” August murmured grimly.

Descending from Salamence, August released Chien-Pao, Ting-Lu, and Chi-Yu.

Seeing their brother’s handiwork, all three swelled with pride at first—before quickly noticing August’s stern expression and hastily distancing themselves from Wo-Chien.

“Wo-Chien’s going too far,” Chien-Pao said virtuously.

Chi-Yu added, “Absolutely! He’s disgracing all Disaster Pokémon—we don't acknowledge him anymore.”

“Exactly right,” Ting-Lu solemnly agreed.

“Enough chatter,” August interrupted. “Can you find Wo-Chien?”

Chien-Pao blinked, suddenly uneasy as everyone stared expectantly.

I’m a leopard, a feline—not a tracking dog!

But under August’s scrutiny, it reluctantly nodded, sniffing the air before dashing ahead.

Finally, they spotted Wo-Chien absorbing the remaining life from a dead forest. Noticing them, Wo-Chien immediately became wary, aggressively preparing itself.

“This feels off,” August remarked, scanning the surroundings. “No sign of whoever released Wo-Chien...”

Before August could investigate further, Wo-Chien growled menacingly, warning them away.

Chi-Yu’s eyes widened indignantly.

Is this how you treat your own brothers?!
