Pokémon: My Titles Know No Limits! [543]
Added 2025-08-05 10:32:55 +0000 UTCHolding Tatsugiri as her remote control, Mew gleefully directed Dondozo’s movements, thoroughly enjoying herself.
But while enthusiastically waving Tatsugiri around, she suddenly noticed Dondozo had stopped moving. Surprised, she glanced down at the Pokémon in her paws.
Tatsugiri’s head and tail drooped limply; it had somehow stopped moving entirely.
Mew panicked a little.
She quickly flew back to August’s side, anxiously tugging at his sleeve, silently begging him for help.
Seeing the weak-looking Tatsugiri, Blue grabbed it by the tail and examined it closely.
“Looks like it fainted!”
“Huh? Fainted?” Sabrina leaned over curiously and flicked Tatsugiri lightly with her finger. It didn’t respond at all, genuinely appearing unconscious.
Upon hearing their words, Mew instantly looked guilty.
Hands clasped behind her back, she tilted her head innocently and glanced around, casually drifting behind August as though nothing had happened.
August sighed. He was all too familiar with being Mew’s scapegoat.
He approached Tatsugiri, casually remarking, “Well, we haven’t had lunch yet. Since it's fainted anyway, how about we make soup out of it?”
Before Blue and the others even registered his words, the ‘unconscious’ Tatsugiri snapped its eyes open, swiftly wiggled free from Blue’s grasp, and leaped back into the lake.
Its agile movements betrayed no trace of its previous "fainting."
Blue stared blankly at where Tatsugiri had vanished underwater.
“Was it just playing dead?” Cynthia asked in astonishment.
Iono took the opportunity to share some local trivia: “Even though it looks really weak... well, Tatsugiri actually is pretty weak. But unlike its tiny appearance suggests, it’s extremely cunning and clever.”
“Bird Pokémon often underestimate Tatsugiri’s harmless appearance, only to become its prey. Usually, they team up with Dondozo to hunt.”
At that moment, Tatsugiri resurfaced—now confidently perched in Dondozo’s mouth.
It glared fiercely at Mew.
Mew had sneak-attacked while it was sunbathing earlier, humiliating it. Now, joined with Dondozo, Tatsugiri was back to reclaim its dignity.
Mew belatedly realized she’d been tricked.
Her eyes widened dramatically in disbelief.
How could anyone deceive an adorable Pokémon like me?!
Conveniently forgetting she’d just been happily swinging Tatsugiri around moments ago, she appeared utterly scandalized.
But August wasn’t fully convinced by Iono’s claims about Tatsugiri’s supposed cunning.
Noticing his doubtful expression, Iono tilted her head curiously.
August glanced at Tatsugiri calmly. “If it was truly clever, it wouldn't have resurfaced after escaping—and definitely wouldn't be provoking Mew.”
Just as he said this, Tatsugiri suddenly felt a chill down its spine.
Although safely nestled within Dondozo’s jaws, it didn’t feel even remotely secure.
Tatsugiri soon pinpointed the source of that dread.
Beside Mew stood that terrifying Pokémon who had easily lifted Dondozo into the air earlier.
Mewtwo, pressured by Mew’s incessant prodding, reluctantly raised his arm once again.
Seeing Mewtwo’s movement, Dondozo was instantly reminded of its earlier traumatic experience. Panicked, it disregarded Tatsugiri’s orders, snapped its mouth shut, and attempted to dive underwater.
Clearly, the big fish wasn’t very bright—it’d already forgotten how easily Mewtwo had plucked it from the lake earlier.
With a casual lift of Mewtwo’s hand, Dondozo once more soared helplessly into the air.
Trapped in Dondozo’s gaping mouth, Tatsugiri frantically flailed, looking small, pitiful, and utterly helpless.
Mew placed her paws on her hips smugly, eyes sparkling mischievously. She quickly rummaged inside Gengar’s belly pouch and produced a thick black marker.
As Mew approached with the marker, Tatsugiri’s heart sank.
Oh no...
An impromptu art session later, Mew nodded in satisfaction, admiring the doodled masterpieces she'd drawn on both Dondozo and Tatsugiri.
August sighed, confiscating the marker from Mew. “Nice drawings. Don’t do it again.”
“Mew!” Mew huffed indignantly, convinced her artwork was beautiful.
She turned eagerly toward Blue and the others for confirmation.
The girls smiled warmly and nodded in approval.
Mew instantly puffed up with righteous confidence.
August sighed again, resigned. “Keep spoiling her, why don’t you...”
Ultimately, August let Tatsugiri and Dondozo return to Casseroya Lake.
He had no intention of capturing them—this entire battle had erupted purely due to Mew’s shenanigans.
When the pair finally left, they were entirely unharmed—apart from being covered in Mew’s colorful scribbles.
Of course, before letting them go, Mew made sure to stuff a generous handful of Pokéblocks into Tatsugiri’s mouth, nearly choking the poor creature unconscious.
Keep digging your own grave, Mew…
August gently patted Chien-Pao’s head. “Let's go.”
Chien-Pao shifted lazily from lying down to standing up, stretching leisurely with its tail raised before leading them onward.
Following along the lakeshore, they eventually arrived at their second destination—the Shrine of Groundblight.
...
Unlike the Shrine of Fractured Ice—where only one chain had remained intact—this shrine appeared largely undamaged.
An inscription was clearly etched into the seal.
“The Vessel of Ruin lies sealed herein,” Cynthia read aloud, turning to August. “The seal seems perfectly intact. Should we head straight to the next shrine?”
She’d barely finished speaking when she noticed August had already tossed out a Poké Ball, releasing a Pokémon crowned with majestic, branching antlers.
“Xerneas…?”
Cynthia had heard Diantha mention this legendary Kalos Pokémon embodying eternity.
August sending out Xerneas meant…
“It’s actually Xerneas!” Iono exclaimed in awe.
“You know Xerneas, too?” Sabrina asked, surprised.
Xerneas turned curiously, along with everyone else, toward Iono—who cheekily stuck out her tongue. “Nope.”
“……” Everyone stared, speechless.
Then why shout out its name?
“To avoid future trouble,” August calmly declared, “let’s take care of it all at once!”
The group: “……”
Destroying the seal to prevent it from breaking…typical August logic.
Xerneas gracefully tapped a hoof on the ground.
A phantom image of the moon rose behind Xerneas before converging into a radiant beam aimed directly at the shrine containing Ting-Lu.
[Moonblast] struck the seal, instantly engulfing the shrine in a devastating explosion.
Chien-Pao’s tail instinctively tucked between its legs.
And here it had thought Reshiram—who'd defeated it—was already invincible. Who knew August’s party had even scarier monsters?!
As the dust finally cleared, they saw clearly:
Of the shrine’s original four chains, three had vanished completely. Only a single battered chain barely held together, swaying precariously.
Most shockingly, the surrounding cliff face had been blown apart, exposing a large portion of the shrine. It seemed a gentle shove could topple the whole structure.
Apparently unsatisfied with its first strike, Xerneas calmly stomped the ground again.
Massive roots burst forth from below, snapping the final chain effortlessly.
With a sharp clink, the seal shattered, and the shrine’s door swung open.
Yet, even after a long moment, Ting-Lu failed to appear.
August eyed Chien-Pao suspiciously. “Are all you Ruin Pokémon socially anxious or something?”
Shouldn’t a Pokémon sealed away for thousands of years burst out immediately upon release? Yet these Disaster Pokémon seemed bizarrely attached to their shrines, lingering inside after being freed.
Chien-Pao stared at him speechlessly.
After seeing what you just did, who would dare come out?!
Without waiting for August’s command, Xerneas calmly sent its roots snaking deep into the shrine.
Sounds of fierce battle echoed briefly from within.
Moments later, under the astonished gazes of Cynthia and Iono, Ting-Lu—an ancient, rock-bodied Pokémon with a cracked bronze vessel atop its head—was dragged helplessly outside, limbs firmly bound by Xerneas’s roots.
Seeing its comrade’s pitiful state, Chien-Pao suddenly felt Reshiram had been rather gentle with it earlier.
Spotting Chien-Pao at August’s side, Ting-Lu immediately glared furiously.
Ting!
It bellowed indignantly.
No wonder it had been captured so easily—the Ruin Pokémon had a traitor among them!
Chien-Pao bristled angrily.
All I did was lead the way! How did that make me a traitor?!
With tensions quickly escalating, Xerneas stepped in as mediator between the two Disaster Pokémon it had just subdued.
“Mew~!”
Meanwhile, on August’s shoulder, Mew happily munched a juicy watermelon slice.
August stared. “Wait, where’d you get watermelon from?”
Face dripping with juice, Mew innocently pointed toward a group of Deerling nervously observing nearby.
One Deerling timidly bleated out, “Meeh!”
August: “…”
You’re deer, why do you sound like sheep?
“Wait, you traded with Deerling instead of stealing?” August gaped in amazement, placing a hand on Mew’s forehead. “No fever... Why are you suddenly behaving abnormally?”
Mew angrily swatted his hand away.
“Is that really how you see me?”
August, Sabrina, and Blue all nodded firmly.
Mew instantly froze in disbelief.
At this very moment, Xerneas—surrounded by adoring Deerling fans loudly bleating “mee”—could only sigh in exasperation.
August took this chance to lecture Mew gently: “Look how loved Xerneas is—now look at you.”
Stubbornly defiant, Mew threw herself onto August’s face, covering him in sticky watermelon juice.
“Let go, you’re getting juice all over me!”
Beside him, Cynthia quietly laughed, while Blue, Sabrina, and Iono erupted into delighted giggles.
