Pokémon: My Titles Know No Limits! [522]

The trip to Opelucid City had ended anticlimactically.

When August first received information from Nate, he’d thought Ghetsis had finally grown bold enough for Team Plasma to stage a serious operation—splitting their forces into three groups to challenge him head-on.

Who knew it would just be a few low-level grunts?

Not even the Seven Sages had bothered to show up.

"Ghetsis, Ghetsis…you need to get it together," August sighed, genuinely disappointed. "If you don't even try, how am I supposed to throw you in jail?"

Giovanni, standing nearby, felt his eyelid twitching uncontrollably.

Was this how August treated him back when he was Team Rocket's boss?

He decided it was best to ignore August.

But Giovanni's silence didn't deter August in the slightest.

"Giovanni!" August slapped his shoulder cheerfully. "Put that criminal mastermind brain of yours to use and help me figure out what Ghetsis might be plotting next."

Giovanni: "...?"

Are we close enough for you to speak so casually? Do you even know what personal boundaries are?!

Giovanni curled his lips into a mocking smile. "Would you really believe anything I say?"

"Of course! Why wouldn’t I?" August replied easily.

Giovanni chuckled dryly, deciding to humor him. "Since Team Plasma's goal is Reshiram and Zekrom, and you already possess the Dark Stone containing Zekrom, Ghetsis is probably trying to obtain the Light Stone that houses Reshiram. Once you have both stones, Team Plasma’s plans would collapse entirely, forcing them into a decisive battle even if they didn't want one."

As Giovanni spoke, a cunning glint flashed briefly in his lowered eyes.

As expected, August knew exactly where the Light Stone was!

If Giovanni could get his hands on it and summon Reshiram himself, maybe he could finally escape from August’s grasp.

August immediately gave Giovanni a thumbs-up. "Spoken like a true top-tier villain! Exactly what I was thinking—but…"

Dragging out his words to fully capture Giovanni’s attention, August smiled slyly.

"But I have a better plan. I’m going to let Team Plasma take the Light Stone first, wait for them to gather everyone together, and then crush them spectacularly at their moment of greatest triumph. How’s that sound?"

Giovanni: "..."

He suddenly felt that, compared to August, he was actually quite ethical.

This sort of psychological torture seemed far more suited to August than himself.

Nacrene City, Nacrene Museum.

N stood in front of the Nacrene Museum, carefully checking its location against the coordinates Ghetsis had provided.

"This must be it…"

Confirming he was in the right spot, N glanced anxiously around at the bustling pedestrians.

When he'd first arrived in Nacrene City, he planned to act immediately. But his three subordinates insisted on preparing a "secret weapon," disappearing for nearly two hours.

Just as N resolved to move ahead without them and claim the Light Stone himself, panicked screams suddenly erupted down the street.

Passersby scattered in all directions as a gigantic robot slowly appeared before N.

N stared blankly.

Though he was Team Plasma's king, he'd never seen anything like this.

The robot was shaped like an oversized Meowth, roughly six or seven meters tall, its body constructed from reinforced metal. Its eyes, covered by sunglasses-like observation windows, revealed Jessie, James, and Meowth peering smugly outward.

"N, leave the Light Stone to us!" James declared proudly.

Before N could respond, Meowth’s confident voice blared from the speakers, "Let me show you the power of our Super Meowth!"

The robot's arm swiftly transformed into a massive drill, punching a hole straight through the museum wall with a thunderous crash.

Hearing the commotion, Lenora rushed over from the adjacent Nacrene Gym, staring in stunned disbelief before anger flared up inside her.

"What do you think you’re doing!?"

Lenora hurled a Poké Ball, releasing her Stoutland, which immediately charged at the Meowth robot.

But halfway there, the robot lifted its other arm and fired a missile that burst midair into a heavy net, trapping Stoutland instantly.

Stoutland desperately clawed at the net but couldn't tear it apart, helplessly snarling.

"Stoutland!" Lenora called anxiously.

Jessie’s triumphant laughter rang out over the speakers, "Hahaha! Don't waste your energy! We spent a fortune designing this robot specifically to catch that twerp’s Pikachu. That net is made from ultra-strong rope—there’s no escaping!"

"That's right, surrender quietly, meow~!"

Meowth pressed another button, grabbing the trapped Stoutland with a claw and pulling it inside the robot.

"Now move aside and stay out of our way!"

Facing a giant drill, Lenora had no choice but to step back.

Watching the robot dig down towards the basement, Lenora instantly understood their goal.

The Light Stone!

Clay had warned her earlier to protect it, but she hadn't expected thieves so soon.

Quickly sending out Watchog to attack, she watched in horror as it was violently flung aside moments later.

Lenora’s pupils shrank as she spotted the culprit—a smug-looking Zorua sauntering toward her. Behind it stood a green-haired young man whose expression carried a mix of melancholy and compassion.

"N, leader of Team Plasma," Lenora said coldly.

"Hand over the Light Stone," N spoke gently. "It’s a vital piece for establishing the future Unova Kingdom."

"A kingdom? Team Plasma really is full of delusional idiots!" Lenora snapped back. "The monarchy vanished nearly a century ago, and you still think you can rebuild it…"

N’s expression remained perfectly unchanged at her words.

Glancing sideways, N saw the Meowth robot struggling against the basement wall. Sparks flew as the drill scraped uselessly against it.

"This wall’s really tough!" Meowth grumbled.

Seeing the robot struggle, Lenora relaxed slightly. The basement’s reinforced defenses weren't something a simple robot could breach.

N frowned lightly. Just as he prepared to have Zorua attack Lenora and force her to hand over the basement key, Meowth’s voice echoed again, now filled with sinister glee.

"You think a little wall can stop us? You underestimate the power of our Super Meowth, meow!"

Pressing another button, the robot’s arm swiftly reshaped itself into a giant drill, penetrating the previously impenetrable barrier with ease. Soon, Meowth himself jumped inside, emerging moments later triumphantly clutching a brilliant white stone.

"We got it, meow~!"

"Nice job!" Jessie cheered.

"Perfect!" James exclaimed gleefully. Without that pesky twerp Ash around, today's heist was going flawlessly.

"Hurry up, N! Time to retreat!" Jessie shouted.

Sirens blared as Officer Jenny and her squad rushed toward them.

The Meowth robot's top popped open, inflating into a familiar Meowth-shaped hot-air balloon.

Seeing Jessie, James, and Meowth waving at him cheerfully, N felt oddly amused—he, the revered king of Team Plasma, boarding a balloon alongside these three.

He released Archeops, grabbing its claws as it lifted him smoothly into the balloon basket, then recalled Zorua below.

Floating upward, he glanced downward thoughtfully.

"This…is surprisingly fun…"

"What was that?" Jessie asked curiously, still celebrating their unprecedented success.

N quickly composed himself. "Nothing. Let's head for Dragonspiral Tower near Icirrus City. Father and the others should already be waiting."

Below, Lenora watched helplessly as Team Rocket and N vanished into the sky.

When Officer Jenny finally arrived, she seemed relieved rather than worried, puzzling Lenora further.

Seeing Lenora’s confusion, Jenny quickly explained, "Elite Four Caitlin just called me. She said if Team Plasma comes for the Light Stone, we should let them take it and make sure they leave safely."

Lenora stared. "What? Has Caitlin joined Team Plasma?"

Jenny clarified hastily, "It was Mr. August’s idea—he plans to use the Light Stone as bait to lure Team Plasma out and defeat them all at once."

Lenora finally understood, but—

Seeing the museum's damaged walls, her heart sank further.

If you wanted the stone as bait, why not say so earlier?! Now, how much money would it take to repair this mess?

For the financially strained Lenora, things had just gotten far worse.

---

August soon received Caitlin’s forwarded message confirming the theft.

"They did it!" August grinned cheerfully.

Giovanni: "..."

Why do you look happier than Team Plasma themselves? If anyone saw you right now, who'd believe you’re an International Police officer?

Before Giovanni could react further, August pushed a tablet toward him.

A video played, clearly showing Team Rocket’s Meowth robot successfully stealing the Light Stone.

Giovanni’s blood pressure spiked instantly.

Those three idiots…how did they end up joining forces with Team Plasma? And did they build that robot using my secret funds?!

After a moment of despair, Giovanni asked hesitantly.

August, reading Giovanni’s thoughts perfectly, smiled broadly. "That's right! According to my surveillance, they used money from your secret accounts!"

Giovanni’s fists clenched as his teeth ground audibly.

August watched Giovanni’s reaction gleefully, wishing he'd brought popcorn—this was simply too entertaining!
