Pokémon: My Titles Know No Limits! [504]

The newly awakened Cinccino realized its donuts had been reclaimed by Hoopa. Eyes immediately reddening, tears threatened to spill down its cheeks.
Hoopa glanced at the donuts in its hand, suddenly feeling like the villain.
But these are clearly my donuts!
Gary took out his phone, checking Cinccino’s entry. Comparing the information with the dirty, dusty Pokémon before him, he muttered suspiciously, “Cinccino are known to be meticulously clean Pokémon, right? But this one…”
Looking closely at the scruffy little Pokémon, Gary hesitated. “Wait a sec, you’re not a Zorua in disguise, are you?”
After all, Zorua loved pranks, often disguising itself as other Pokémon—or even people.
The Cinccino, hearing itself accused of being a Zorua, instantly forgot its tears.
“Mii-nee!” I’m not some Zorua! It flailed its tiny arms, panicked.
“Mew~”
While Cinccino was busy protesting, Mew, invisible and mischievous, had quietly snuck behind it. Grabbing Cinccino’s fluffy tail, Mew tugged playfully.
Having always been on the receiving end of August’s tail grabs, Mew wanted to see how it felt from the other side.
Honestly? Cinccino’s tail felt incredibly soft, fluffy—softer even than Eevee’s.
Mew giggled happily, but Cinccino immediately bristled; its tail was highly sensitive. Desperately struggling to break free, it only found Mew’s grip tightening.
Bullied and frustrated, Cinccino finally burst into tears.
“Mii-nee!”
Its cries quickly drew the attention of passing pedestrians.
Realizing its mischief had attracted unwanted eyes, Mew instantly looked guilty and vanished from sight.
August sighed inwardly. Once again, cleaning up after Mew’s mess.
Seeing Cinccino sobbing helplessly, August reached out, gently using his [Power of Viridian] to comfort it while holding out a Pokéblock.
Sensing August’s comforting aura, Cinccino’s wails gradually quieted into soft sniffles. As it nibbled on thePokéblock, its eyes practically sparkled with delight.
It had never tasted something so delicious before.
With Cinccino finally calm, August gently rubbed its head. “Alright now, run along. Just don’t steal things next time.”
Standing up, he prepared to leave—
—but soon felt his pants leg being tugged.
Cinccino was clutching tightly at his pants, frantically gesturing with its free paw.
“You want me to follow you somewhere? You want to repay me?” August raised an eyebrow. Was this a Cinccino’s way of showing gratitude?
Well, he had nothing else planned…
“Caitlin, you and the others head to the hotel first,” August instructed. “Gary, come with me.”
“Why me? I wanna go to the hotel too…” Despite his grumbling, Gary obediently followed August anyway.
Cinccino guided them swiftly through Castelia City’s crowded streets, eventually reaching their destination: the harbor district.
August surveyed the bustling docks. “This is the place you wanted to show me?”
“Mii-nee!” Cinccino nodded vigorously, leading August to a warehouse nearby.
Castelia boasted Unova’s busiest port, with massive cargo volume, leading to numerous warehouses—some abandoned due to unclaimed shipments, which now served as makeshift homes for wild urban Pokémon.
This particular warehouse appeared to be one such haven.
Cinccino skillfully climbed atop boxes toward a ventilation duct, gesturing for August to follow.
August glanced at the narrow vent, then turned meaningfully to Gary.
Gary froze. “?”
Why’re you looking at me? There’s no way I’m crawling through that vent!
Seeing Gary refuse the bait, August sighed regretfully and turned toward Hoopa instead.
“Open a portal, Hoopa.”
At August’s order, Hoopa tossed out its golden ring, opening a dimensional gateway, much to Cinccino’s astonishment.
Beckoning Cinccino along, August, Mew, and Cinccino stepped into the warehouse via Hoopa’s portal.
Inside, their eyes took a moment to adjust to the dim lighting.
When August finally took in the scene clearly, he was stunned.
Countless Pokémon were hiding nervously behind crates and shelves, cautiously peering out at him, clearly uneasy about their sudden visitor.
Most were small rodent Pokémon—Emolga, Pachirisu, and numerous Cinccino. Every single one appeared timid, ready to scatter at the slightest disturbance.
One loud noise from me would probably cause total chaos, August thought wryly.
Just then, Gary stepped through the portal. “August, what the—? What’s going on here?!”
Gary’s startled shout immediately triggered pandemonium.
Panicked Emolga flew wildly through the warehouse, Pachirisu buried their heads inside boxes, their big tails trembling nervously outside. August even spotted a Paldean Tandemaus family scattering, momentarily reduced from a happy trio to confused, separated mice.
And all this chaos was because of Gary.
August stared flatly at him. “…”
Gary awkwardly scratched his head under August’s gaze. “I, uh, didn’t mean to?”
How was he supposed to know this warehouse was full of timid Pokémon?
Cinccino stepped forward decisively. “Mii-nee!”
Clearly respected among the Pokémon here, Cinccino’s sharp call restored calm to the warehouse.
“Mii-nee! Mii-nee!” Cinccino pointed toward August, introducing him to the others.
The Pokémon watched August curiously before parting to reveal two Cinccino carefully carrying an object shaped like a pair of binoculars, placing it gently at August’s feet.
Cinccino nudged the item toward August.
Inspecting it, August raised an eyebrow in surprise. “A [Scope Lens]?”
He honestly hadn’t expected a meaningful gift—especially considering Cinccino had resorted to stealing Hoopa’s donuts. While it wasn’t particularly useful for him personally, it was still valuable.
As August examined the Scope Lens, a smaller Cinccino approached their leader eagerly. “Mii-nee?”
Every Pokémon stared hopefully at Cinccino, eyes shining with anticipation.
Cinccino slowly lowered its head sadly. “Mii-nee…”
The Pokémon’s hopeful expressions fell, clearly disappointed. They comforted Cinccino gently, but their growling stomachs betrayed their true feelings.
Mew, invisible atop August’s head, cocked her head thoughtfully. “Mew?”
After a moment, she silently descended, plucking Gengar from August’s shadow.
“Mew!” Mew urged Gengar quietly.
Gengar hesitated, glancing nervously at August’s back, but quickly surrendered when Mew raised a threatening little fist.
He reached into his body, pulling out a large box filled with Pokéblocks.
Mew swiftly took the box, floating toward the Pokémon.
Cinccino immediately shielded its companions protectively, wary of Mew’s earlier mischief, until it saw the neatly arranged Pokéblocks.
“Mii-nee?” Cinccino cautiously pointed first at the Pokéblocks, then itself.
Mew crossed her arms, nodding decisively.
Cinccino glanced back at its hungry companions, hesitated, then steeled its resolve.
It released its tail from protection, bravely offering it toward Mew as if facing execution.
If sacrificing myself means my friends can eat, I’m willing!
Mew: “…?”
...
Having quietly observed the entire exchange, August finally understood.
Cinccino had only stolen the donuts to feed its friends.
August wasn’t concerned about losing a few Pokéblocks, but he wondered why so many clearly domesticated Pokémon were stranded here—starving, frightened, unable to survive alone.
He turned thoughtfully to Gary. “What do you think?”
Gary answered instantly, without hesitation, “Isn’t it obvious? Team Plasma, obviously!”
Gary’s thoughts matched August’s exactly.
Only one organization in Unova would deliberately cause mass abandonment like this.
Cinccino soon returned to August, sincerely expressing its gratitude. “Mii-nee~!”
August smiled softly. “Did Team Plasma do this to you?”
Cinccino immediately looked furious, its anger soon giving way to sorrow. “Mii-nee…”
Listening quietly, August pieced together the story through Cinccino’s account:
Most of the warehouse Pokémon were once beloved partners, released by trainers influenced by Team Plasma’s rhetoric about Pokémon liberation. Immediately after release, strong Pokémon were conveniently collected by Team Plasma, promising “better care.” The weaker ones—some raised from eggs—were left abandoned, unable to fend for themselves, forced to hide here in groups, surviving on scraps stolen from the city.
That explained Cinccino’s dirty fur: too busy struggling for survival to properly groom itself.
Gary, hearing Hoopa translate, clenched his fists angrily. “Team Plasma… They’re despicable!”
Before, he knew Plasma was bad, but he’d never personally witnessed their cruelty until now. Their sins truly were unforgivable.
August’s brow furrowed deeply. Watching the warehouse full of starving Pokémon, especially the Tandemaus family now desperately sharing a single Pokéblock, he realized he'd been too lenient with Plasma before.
But eliminating Team Plasma would take time. Right now, these Pokémon urgently needed help.
August gently addressed the gathered Pokémon. “If you have nowhere else to go, I can offer you a home. It might not be as cozy as being with your trainers, but it’ll definitely be safe and comfortable.”
Mii-nee? Cinccino tilted its head skeptically. Could such a place really exist?
August smiled reassuringly. “Ever heard of the Aether Foundation?”
He quickly messaged Lusamine:
[GardevoirSupremacy]: I have some abandoned Pokémon here who can’t survive alone. Can you help?
[Lusamine]: Of course, darling!
“All set!” August announced cheerfully to Cinccino, who blinked in disbelief.
“Let’s get you somewhere safer first,” he continued, gesturing to Hoopa to open another portal.
Surveying the large group of Pokémon, Hoopa realized its ordinary form couldn’t transport them all. With a dramatic flourish, Hoopa unsealed the [Prison Bottle], transforming impressively into its [Unbound Form].
“Hoopa is the strongest!” it boasted loudly.
August promptly smacked Hoopa lightly, shushing him firmly. “Quiet—you’ll scare them again!”
