Patreon Sales Tax

EDIT on May 5/27/2020 @ 9:17PM CST:  It appears that having Patron exclusive polls may be subject to taxes in certain places.  Currently the Party Guest Tier has Polls and General Support listed as rewards which may cause the upcoming taxes to come into effect.  Depending on how this all goes down it may save Patrons the tax if I removed Patron exclusive polls from the benefits but I am still unsure how this will all work out.

I wanted to create this post as heads up that starting from JULY 1ST some Patrons will have an increase in cost for their pledges due to sales tax being added on top of it.

This is neither in my control nor in Patreon's control as it is required by government law, so it can't be helped.

I apologize for this inconvenience as this patreon page was created just as this was announced/before it goes into effect.

Whether  or not you will be charged sales tax depends on your location, and what  is considered taxable there. Not every pledge is taxable, not all benefits are taxable in every location, and sometimes only a fraction of a pledge will be taxable. The money that Patreon collects as a result of these laws are paid directly to local governments.

If you’re in a location where sales tax will be required, you  should expect to receive an email from Patreon with more information  about this very soon, but I wanted to make sure you were aware of these  changes way ahead of July 1st when they go into effect.

Thank you for all of your support!  With how the only tier offered through this page is general support I am unsure how this will effect everyone when it goes live on JULY 1ST so we will need to see.  If these new changes make you unable to support the project further, that's fine!
