Starting a New Life in Tokyo by Inheriting a Shopping Street [33]

Chiba Shuuichi’s face filled with black lines. “What are you imagining? How could I possibly drag Sensei here to watch us? She just happened to catch a cold and came here for medicine while the nurse was away teaching class.”

“Oh.”

Akiyama Tsuki didn't sound particularly disappointed; the current scenario was exciting enough. How it came to be didn't matter at all.

Chiba rose quietly to close the door, whispering as he moved, “Did you have any trouble getting here?”

“Not really. I pretended to feel faint and started to collapse. The other students noticed right away, and An-chan told the teacher I might be overexerted, so I got permission to leave,” Tsuki briefly explained in a hushed voice. Picking up the stethoscope from the table, she waved it slightly, the implication obvious.

Chiba motioned for her to wait, then stepped quietly to Nase Sumire’s bedside, slipping through the curtain to check on her.

Nase-sensei seemed already asleep, breathing calmly, her face serene. Without her glasses, her usually plain features revealed hidden beauty: long eyelashes, a sharp nose, and defined contours giving her a slightly foreign, almost heroic look.

Yet with flushed cheeks from fever and her delicate brows faintly knitted in discomfort, she evoked an instinctive tenderness.

Chiba reached out gently, pressing the back of his hand to her forehead to check her temperature.

“Still burning up, but she’s starting to sweat. She should be fine after some rest,” Chiba murmured softly, closely observing her expression to ensure she truly slept.

Once confident Nase-sensei was sound asleep, he finally slipped out of the curtain.

Outside, Tsuki had grown impatient. Seeing Chiba emerge, she eagerly flashed him a questioning look. Receiving a subtle nod, she instantly handed him the stethoscope.

Chiba slowly placed the stethoscope around his neck, then sat leisurely in the nurse’s chair. Without rushing, he asked seriously, “Where exactly do you feel uncomfortable?”

“A bit dizzy, and my heart is beating fast,” Tsuki replied smoothly, immediately slipping into character as a patient.

“Then let’s start by listening to your heartbeat. Lift your shirt,” Chiba instructed with practiced professionalism.

Tsuki hesitated, feigning genuine reluctance, her brow slightly furrowed. “Can’t you just listen through the PE uniform? Do I really have to lift it?”

“Are you the doctor or am I?” Chiba scolded gently, before easing his tone once more.

“Doctors don't see gender distinctions, there's no need for that kind of caution. Besides, you high school girls nowadays all wear thickly padded bras that seriously interfere with the accuracy of the stethoscope.”

“I… I understand…”

Tsuki bit her lip softly, turning her head away as a blush spread across her cheeks. She slowly raised the hem of her gym shirt, revealing smooth, fair skin.

Her slender waist, flat and flawless, had not an ounce of extra fat—delicate enough to grasp with one hand.

As she lifted higher, faint outlines of her ribs became visible, clearly showing her slenderness.

Chiba’s lips curled upward slightly. “See? Thick padding. I don’t even know what you're embarrassed about with this size.”

“Hmph…” Tsuki made an odd little hum of displeasure, though the teasing clearly thrilled her.

Creaaak—

At that same moment, a faint metallic creaking echoed, apparently from one of the beds.

Both Chiba and Tsuki turned sharply toward the sound—Tsuki’s heart thumping wildly, cheeks flushed with excitement, while Chiba narrowed his eyes thoughtfully.

They exchanged a meaningful glance, neither speaking nor stopping.

Holding the stethoscope, Chiba genuinely went through the motions of examination, careful to keep his touches professional—though inevitably, slight brushes against her skin occurred.

Every slight contact made Tsuki shiver, her heartbeat racing audibly beneath the stethoscope, trembling visibly from the thrill of the moment.

Coupled with the captivating contradiction in her expression—a stubborn, almost disgusted grimace clashing against excited, heated eyes—the scene was utterly captivating.

“All done, you can lower your shirt now.”

Chiba’s personal interest in Tsuki wasn’t especially strong—compared to someone like Ogawa-san, she lacked a certain charm that encouraged deeper engagement.

These small role-play scenarios, however, were intriguing enough. He preferred stopping at teasing, careful not to go too far.

“Lie down on that bed for now. I'll prescribe medicine for you.”

He pointed toward the bed furthest inside, next to the window. With the curtains drawn, it could become equally private.

The nurse’s office wasn’t large—just three beds total. The empty bed between Tsuki’s and Nase-sensei’s offered a buffer.

“What kind of medicine?” Tsuki asked warily.

“Relax, it’s not bitter at all. In fact, it’s rather sweet. But don't chew it. Remember not to finish it too quickly. Got it?”

Chiba’s vague description made Tsuki’s heart race again, curiosity gnawing at her.

Could it really be what I'm thinking?

Then Chiba reached into his pocket, pulling out…

A lollipop.

“???”

Tsuki hadn’t expected that. She'd thought it would be something far more inappropriate. That’s it?

Seeing the doubt in her eyes, Chiba suddenly felt a headache coming on. Were her expectations really that high? Was this not stimulating enough?

“The instructions I just gave—do you remember clearly?” Chiba reiterated pointedly.

Realization dawned immediately on Tsuki’s face, her excitement returning quickly.

“I got it; you don't need to repeat it,” Tsuki said, snatching the candy from his hand and heading eagerly to the bed by the window.

Chiba followed, pulling the curtain closed—though only partially, creating a makeshift private area using both beds’ curtains.

“Take your medicine; I’ll watch to make sure you're using it correctly,” Chiba ordered, casually sitting on the empty middle bed.

“Hmph, I know already,” Tsuki pouted, ripping open the wrapper, and began carefully applying the medicine…

Once she fully grasped the essence of the role-play, Tsuki’s natural talent immediately shone through.

The subtle frown on her face, a perfect blend of mild disgust and reluctance, was exactly right.

Chiba suddenly felt thirsty—preferably for water served by Ogawa-san.

Tsuki, meanwhile, was oblivious to the fact that even now, he was thinking about Ogawa-san. Had she known, she'd probably have been even more excited.

The two stayed silent, one diligently taking the medicine, the other carefully supervising.

Twenty minutes passed.

Tsuki licked her lips, feeling thirsty. The candy had been incredibly sweet, even dehydrating.

Seeing her discomfort, Chiba advised, “Alright, medicine done. Head back now, and remember to drink plenty of water.”

“Yes, thank you, Doctor. The medicine was effective—I misunderstood you earlier.”

Tsuki felt thoroughly satisfied after today’s play. She stood up, wearing an expression of mild hesitation and apology.

“When should I… come back for a follow-up?”

“We'll talk about that next time.” Noting class was almost over, Chiba waved impatiently, urging her to hurry.

Tsuki left without further delay.

After her departure, Chiba returned the curtains to their original positions, then walked quietly to Nase Sumire’s bedside…
