Pokémon: My Titles Know No Limits! [467]
Added 2025-07-09 11:38:27 +0000 UTCAfter seeing the content on Malva’s phone, August narrowed his eyes thoughtfully.
Under Malva’s wary gaze, August smiled softly:
“How very interesting…”
He left behind only this ambiguous remark before walking away.
Malva stared at his retreating figure, lost in thought. What exactly did he mean by that?
Though she couldn’t pinpoint August’s intentions, one thing was certain—someone was about to face trouble.
She glanced back down at her phone.
Malva quickly typed: [Sorry.]
At the Silver Conference venue, Gary saw Malva’s sudden apology, utterly confused. Why is she apologizing out of nowhere?
Before he could question her, Ash’s voice called out from beside him, “Gary! Pearl’s match is about to start! Let’s hurry!”
At Ash’s urging, Gary temporarily put aside his confusion.
“Coming!”
As the coaching consultant (self-proclaimed) of the Kanto branch team, there was no way he’d miss such an important match!
...
As Gary and the others hurried off to the match, August’s group encountered a problem.
Standing before a devastated forest path, blocked by a massive ravine, the group exchanged puzzled glances.
“What happened here?” Serena murmured, scanning the surroundings.
She’d expected to meet Ash quickly, not get stranded halfway.
While everyone else took in the scene, Malva stepped forward, crouched down by the ravine’s edge, and examined the earth closely. “From my experience as a news anchor, I'd say some kind of large Pokémon caused this…”
“Kalos doesn’t have many giant Pokémon. Considering this is Mt. Silver, this destruction likely came from a Tyranitar.”
As a former ranger, August generally agreed with Malva’s assessment, but he saw even more clues.
Walking to one side of the ravine, he knelt down and observed carefully. “These tire tracks… Jeep tires manufactured by Silph Co.—high-performance but pricey, so very few people use them. From what I know, there are two kinds of people who prefer these tires.”
“Which two?” Sabrina cooperatively prompted.
“First, Pokémon Rangers. According to Silph Co.’s agreement with the League, Rangers get these tires for free. However…” August glanced around at the ruined trees. “Rangers are protectors of nature. If any of them wrecked a forest like this, they'd be fired immediately.”
“And the second type?” Malva’s curiosity was piqued.
“Pokémon poachers!” August clapped the dirt from his hands. “To evade Rangers, poachers commonly pick the same high-performance tires.”
“Pokémon poachers?” Blue and Sabrina echoed, confused.
Who in their right mind would dare poach in Kanto or Johto nowadays?
“I smell a familiar stink,” August said dryly. “Let's find out if I'm right.”
August lifted the comfortably limp Mew, who was still lost in dreamy bliss atop his head, shaking her gently awake. “Go, Mew!”
“Mew…” Reluctantly opening her sleepy eyes, Mew sniffed around briefly, turned her head, and indicated a direction before lazily curling up again atop August’s head.
This time, however, Mew had gotten her orientation wrong—now her backside faced forward, with her long tail dangling over August’s face, swinging rhythmically with each breath, resembling a fluffy pink fringe.
Everyone fought back smiles—except Hoopa, who burst out laughing.
“Pfft-hahaha!”
Feeling August’s chilling glare, Hoopa quickly hid behind Meray in fright.
With silence restored, August turned in the indicated direction.
“Let’s go. No matter which Pokémon caused this, we can’t let it disrupt the Silver Conference.”
Since it was the first major regional event organized by Lance, it’d be best to avoid any complications.
They followed the ravine forward, passing numerous fallen trees and injured wild Pokémon: Sentret, Marill, Aipom—all groaning in pain.
August released Celebi’s Pokéball without hesitation.
“Labi!”
Celebi’s expression twisted in anger at the scene before her.
Rising into the air, Celebi fluttered her wings, scattering a gentle green light across the devastated area. At the touch of this verdant glow, broken trees regenerated, and injured Pokémon swiftly healed.
“Hoopa!”
Seeing Celebi, Hoopa eagerly waved to catch her attention.
Celebi turned toward Hoopa, looking puzzled for a moment.
After a brief pause, Celebi finally recognized Hoopa by the familiar golden rings she carried.
“Labi?”
“Hoopa!”
Seeing their reactions, Blue asked curiously, “Do those two know each other?”
“It seems so…” August replied uncertainly.
Celebi had never mentioned it before. If he'd known earlier, it would've saved him a lot of trouble.
After a short reunion, Celebi refocused on their urgent task—tracking down the culprit behind the forest’s destruction.
Whoever had done this was utterly unforgivable!
Celebi charged ahead decisively, with Hoopa trailing close behind.
Everyone quickly followed, soon hearing battle sounds ahead.
Exchanging looks, they hurried onward.
Passing through the trees, they arrived at an open clearing where an intense fight was unfolding.
On one side was indeed the Tyranitar Malva had suspected—nearly four meters tall, towering at twice the height of an ordinary specimen, utterly dominating the space.
On the other side were precisely the poachers August anticipated.
A group of armed Pokémon hunters were backed against their jeep, relentlessly attacking Tyranitar.
Enraged, Tyranitar began charging a [Hyper Beam] within its jaws.
Roaring ferociously, it unleashed a brilliant white blast of energy.
But the poachers were prepared.
Their leader swiftly tossed out a Pokéball, revealing a Wobbuffet.
“Wo-bbu-ffet…” Wobbuffet barely uttered its trademark cry before receiving a command: “[Mirror Coat]!”
Wobbuffet’s sleek blue body shone brilliantly, turning reflective like a polished mirror.
The [Hyper Beam] slammed into Wobbuffet, who grimaced in pain, but the powerful attack rebounded toward Tyranitar with even greater intensity.
Boom!
Struck by its own amplified attack, Tyranitar collapsed heavily to the ground.
The poachers cheered victoriously.
“Hurry! The Silver Conference is nearby—we have to finish quickly before attracting attention!” the leader ordered urgently.
His men nodded obediently.
They’d risked much to poach in Johto—only daring it because news reported the “Demon Ranger” was busy in Kalos, giving an interview.
But now, the risk seemed worth it.
This colossal Tyranitar alone would fetch an astronomical price from wealthy Pokémon collectors.
One big payday, and they could retire comfortably.
But just as they moved to finish off Tyranitar, a chilling voice sounded nearby.
“You've sure got some nerve.”
The poachers instinctively reached for their Pokéballs. “Who’s there?!”
“Who? Looks like I've barely stepped away from being a Ranger, and already I’m forgotten,” August sneered coldly.
The instant they recognized August’s face, poachers and leader alike went pale.
“August!”
“The Demon Ranger, August!”
Their voices cracked from sheer panic.
Forgetting their hard-earned Tyranitar prize, they scrambled desperately into their jeep, attempting escape.
The smarter ones released flying Pokémon to flee individually—but it was futile.
“Hoopa,” August called calmly.
Without needing detailed instructions, Hoopa gleefully threw out her golden rings.
A moment later, fleeing poachers flew straight into Hoopa’s portals, only to reappear inches from massive tree trunks.
Thud!
They collapsed unconscious.
Meanwhile, to handle the fleeing jeep, Gardevoir—August’s trusted partner from his ranger days—calmly sealed the exhaust pipe with mud, rendering the vehicle useless.
By the time poachers frantically realized their jeep was sabotaged, their escape route was blocked.
Standing calmly before them were Latios and Latias—Pokémon poachers usually dreamed about—but now, facing them felt like falling into an icy abyss.
Most surrendered instantly, dropping their Pokéballs and kneeling.
But their leader refused to yield.
“Everyone says the Demon Ranger August is unbeatable. Let's see about that!” he growled, releasing a Steelix and scattering multiple Pokéballs filled with Forretress onto the ground.
August raised an eyebrow at the scene. “Going full Explosive Youth-style?”
Ignoring the confusing remark, the leader smirked cruelly and shouted, “[Self-destruct]!”
His escape hinged on the resulting chaos.
Yet… no explosion?
Confused, he glanced up, seeing August calmly smiling beside a Quagsire, who waved cheerfully in greeting.
Quagsire… [Damp] ability…
Realizing the truth, the leader’s body shook uncontrollably. Before he could speak, psychic power dragged him directly before August.
“You’re under arrest for illegal poaching, endangering public safety, resisting arrest, and attempted murder of League officials!” August proclaimed gravely, then patted the leader’s shoulder warmly.
“Congratulations. You’ve officially entered my ‘Top Ten Poacher Arrests’ ranking. You'll become legendary in your field!”
Vision darkening, the poacher fainted.
Ignoring the man further, August instructed Baraz to arrest the rest, then approached the wary Tyranitar lying on the ground.
“What’s with the look? Do I really seem like a bad guy?” August asked, feigning offense.
Tyranitar: “…”
Blue and Sabrina behind him were speechless. Like Tyranitar would even understand you!
Surprisingly, sensing August’s calming [Power of Viridian], Tyranitar’s vigilance faded.
August gently healed its wounds and tossed over a Special Pokéblock.
“Alright, you’re good now. Head home,” August smiled kindly, waving farewell.
