Yukinoshita’s Method of Correction [31]

“Wow, that hair color looks amazing~!” Yuigahama Yui exclaimed. “Where did you get it done?”

“Matsudo. I went with her,” Hikigaya Komachi replied casually. “But don’t go there; it seriously pissed me off.”

“Huh?” Yuigahama tilted her head curiously. “What happened?”

“The color on the dye chart was clearly closer to ash blonde, but it turned out chestnut-brown instead.” Komachi complained angrily, “I almost filed a complaint against that hairdresser, but Miki just shrugged it off and said they looked similar.”

“Her temper’s way too good...” Yuigahama sighed, “But honestly, it does look pretty nice.”

As they spoke, Miki was gradually coming closer to the camera.

[Miki?] Tanaka sounded surprised. [Haven’t you gone home yet?]

[Ah... I'm waiting to go back with Hojo.] Miki smiled slightly, curious as she glanced towards the camera. [What are you filming...?]

[Just capturing some extra shots to use for transitions.]

[You’re filming now?!] Miki shrieked, quickly ducking out of view. [Hey, don't you dare put that part in!]

[Alright, alright.] Tanaka laughed lightly, then turned the camera toward her again. [So, President Hojo’s still working on the poster?]

[Ah... yeah.] Miki lowered her eyes slightly. [We’re running out of time, and lately he's been staying late drawing...]

[Wasn’t Sasaki’s poster good enough? Why not just use that one?]

[Hojo just wants to see if he can make something better...] Miki seemed hesitant to continue the topic. She held up a plastic bag full of snacks and drinks, changing the subject quickly. [By the way, do you want some Ramune?]

[There's only two bottles—aren’t those yours and Hojo’s? I won’t take what's not mine.]

[It’s fine!] Miki twisted the glass bottles around and handed one over, melon-flavored. [Here, this one's for you. Hojo and I can share the other one.]

[No, no, it’s fine. I still have to film, and it’d be awkward carrying it around.] Tanaka quickly refused.

Miki didn’t insist further and walked toward the special building, carrying the plastic bag.

Tanaka continued filming aimlessly. Clearly, he didn’t quite know what effect he was looking for, shooting random scenes in hopes of finding inspiration.

During this idle period, Higashigumo Sugi asked, “What's this poster situation all about?”

“There are multiple concept posters, but only one can be used for promotion,” Komachi explained, placing two posters side by side. “So, which one do you guys think is better?”

Yuigahama raised her hand cheerfully, “Komachi’s is the best!”

“Mine doesn't count~” Komachi waved dismissively. “It's just there to make up the numbers.”

“I think... Sasaki’s poster is better,” Higashigumo pointed at the poster showing the Ao Oni chasing four people. “Although Hojo’s is more artistic, posters should be straightforward, clearly conveying the content.”

“By using shadows to create pareidolia, this poster better illustrates the Film Club’s efforts,” Yukinoshita Yukino offered a different opinion. “Its environmental detail and atmosphere match the theme better.”

“It was basically the same situation back then,” Komachi sighed helplessly. “Everyone had different opinions.”

“But Hojo was the one who decided to redraw it...” Higashigumo raised an eyebrow. “Did Miki choose Sasaki’s poster?”

“Yeah. Honestly, we all thought she'd choose President Hojo’s, since they’re childhood friends,” Komachi said regretfully. “But Miki chose Sasaki’s instead, so Hojo's been working tirelessly to draw something new.”

“She might be avoiding suspicion,” Higashigumo guessed. “The more someone likes someone else, the harder it is to admit. Even when everyone knows, they’ll deny it or deliberately contradict the person they like.”

Komachi glanced briefly at Yukinoshita, nodding in agreement. “Exactly.”

“You seem to have a big misunderstanding...” Higashigumo suddenly pointed at Hojo’s poster. “Actually, I wasn’t looking carefully enough before. Hojo’s might be more suitable.”

“Yes, exactly!” Komachi nodded vigorously. “Miki said the same thing afterward, but President Hojo insisted on redrawing anyway.”

Higashigumo: “...”

Yukinoshita gave Higashigumo a sideways glance. “Attempting to influence others with your wavering opinions will only strengthen their original views.”

“President Hojo probably thought the same,” Komachi guessed. “Because Miki changed her decision so easily, he likely believed she didn't genuinely prefer his poster, just saying that to save his feelings.”

Yukinoshita: “...”

Behind them, Yuigahama quietly gave Komachi a thumbs-up.

Higashigumo explained seriously, “She and I aren’t childhood friends.”

Yukinoshita immediately added, “And there are no romantic feelings involved.”

“Weren’t we talking about Miki and Hojo? How did you...” Komachi paused, startled. “Did you guys think I was talking about you?”

Higashigumo & Yukinoshita: “......”

Yuigahama silently raised both thumbs.

While the group chatted, Tanaka had entered the special building and aimed the camera at the Film Club's open door, greeting the person inside. [President, still drawing?]

The curtains were partially drawn, creating a gloomy atmosphere inside.

[Yeah.] President Hojo took a sip from a blueberry-flavored Ramune, reluctantly turning away from the canvas, glancing irritably at the camera. [Miki told me already. Sorry for the trouble. If you need help, I’ll call some others.]

Miki appeared in the frame carrying snacks, waving cheerfully. [I can help too!]

[No need. Is Sasaki in the prop room? I want to borrow some props.]

[Probably?] Miki seemed uncertain.

[With his girlfriend?]

Miki shook her head. [I don't know if she came today.]

[By the way, have you guys seen Sasaki’s girlfriend?] Tanaka lowered his voice conspiratorially. [He’s been so secretive. Could she be a teacher or something?]

[Don't pry into other people’s business,] Hojo’s voice turned serious. [Remember to knock before entering, and return whatever props you borrow.]

[Roger that!] Tanaka agreed cheerfully, turning the camera away toward another direction.
